to think the Shark 'anti hair wrap' is actually a load of crap?

bought one as recommended as we've got pets and 3 long-ish haired girls in the house.. i was getting sick to death of having to take the scissors to the brush roll every time i vacuumed to get the hair off.

This thing, that is SUPPOSED to prevent it, is exactly the same as the last one... doesn't prevent it at all,, still having to cut it free every time.

anti hair wrap my arse.

Our old one died and was replaced under warranty with the anti hair wrap, it is better but I still have to cut hair out periodically. We have a cat, I have long curly hair, DH and DS are also pretty hairy. I've never had a giver that's been able to cope without issue other than Henry, but he's a heavy unwieldy little beast

KingdomScrolls · 22/06/2021 11:58

*hoover

WeAllHaveWings · 22/06/2021 12:02

Don't have the hair wrapping issue, but have problems with losing suction and eventually the hose blocking due to hair when our labrador is moulting and it is a nightmare to get out as the curves at each end means you cant stick something long in to push it out. I have to use the garden hose and then wait days for the inside to dry out completely or more gets stuck. Hate the shark.

tattiehat · 22/06/2021 12:14

Good to know. I have a cordless shark that doesn't have the anti hair wrap and was considering getting one, I'll not waste me money now

3peassuit · 22/06/2021 12:23

This is really useful to know. I was just about to buy one.

SkeletonSkins · 22/06/2021 12:27

When I was looking at getting a shark, I found that there’s an anti-hair wrap one, that’s fairly cheap, but also a ‘pet hair’ one which is more expensive, but absolutely does the job. Reviews seem to suggest that if you’ve got pets you need the pet hair one. We went for that one, it’s £300 on Amazon at the minute but does go down at times to £200, and it’s been incredible. I think the cheaper ones just aren’t up for the job.

Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner [NV681UKT] Pet Hair,

Catswithflamingos · 22/06/2021 12:30

I’m so glad I saw this before forking out for one on Prime day

haba · 22/06/2021 12:33

Is there anything that works on long hair? Three of us have waist-length hair here (the 4th is bald, bless him! Wink) and I would love to not have freaking hair everywhere the whole time!
I swear it's worse than dogs.

SpnBaby1967 · 22/06/2021 12:39

I have the pet hair lift away one and its brilliant. My previous shark really got tangled and blocked up (3 girls and cats). Havent had any issues this time with the new one.

Crabbypaddy · 22/06/2021 12:44

I feel your pain.

Keepingitreal14 · 22/06/2021 12:46

You do realise that the hair does still wrap around it but it then breaks it down, run it on a hard floor for a couple of minutes after and it will (should) break if down.

So it will look like it needs removing but give it it and it will do it for you.

RaptorInaPorkPieHat · 22/06/2021 12:46

We have one (and one long haired DD), and we do still have to remove the hair every so often but much less than before. It was bought to replace our ancient Dyson (from back when Dysons were good) so it is noticeably better in pretty much every way.

But in the words of Ronseal, it doesn't do what it says on the tin.

wejammin · 22/06/2021 12:49

The only thing I find works on hair is a shower squeegee. Quick squeegee pre-hoovering, then the hoover can also pick up the loose bits as well. I've got a shit Dyson though.

PomegranateSeed · 22/06/2021 13:22

We have a shark and the anti hair wrap works brilliantly. One child has very long extremely thick hair and the shark deals with it no problem. The plug holes are a different matter Hmm maybe it helps having a variety of carpet and are floors.

HelplessProcrastinator · 22/06/2021 13:23

Absolutely the worst purchase we have ever made. It gets blocked all the time as well. Hate the bastard thing.

ChequerBoard · 22/06/2021 13:27

Works brilliantly for us - two here with very thick long hair plus pets. All other hoovers are a pain in the arse with the usual scissors required frequently. Not so with the Shark anti hair wrap.

We have mostly hard floors, only carpets is in the DC bedrooms, maybe that's why it works for us??

Treaclepie19 · 22/06/2021 13:29

Ours gets on okay. We're all very hairy.
We do have a mix of carpet and hard floors too though.

newidentiy · 22/06/2021 13:31

Worst vac ever.

Gets blocked EVERY SINGLE TIME its used and total lie about the wrap around hair. I have the cordless, pet, anti wrap which should be making me a cup of tea as it vacs for the price it cost

HATE HATE HATE IT

Dixiechickonhols · 22/06/2021 13:33

Yes totally underwhelmed. They replaced first as I said faulty as no suction but second one is same. It had great reviews??? I have to constantly cut hair off it/unblock it. 1 daughter with long hair and one dog.

pussycatlickinglollyices · 22/06/2021 13:34

My hair is nearly waist length and we have 2 indoor only cats.
I sometimes think I shed more than them Blush
We have a Dyson small ball and it's amazing with the hair/fur. I haven't had to attack it with scissors once and it's been used and abused every single day for nearly 5 yrs.
Similar model to this one: Dyson

Absolutely agree. Was so disappointed - spits out all the time
RitaTheGreeter · 22/06/2021 13:39

Sharks are the emperor's new clothes of vacuum cleaners. Always blocking, dust container too small to be of any use, clouds of filth when you empty them, and washing the filter is an unpleasant task. Bagged vacuum cleaners are the future, particularly Sebo.

Yogaposer · 22/06/2021 13:40

We have one and I hate it with a passion, it is worse than useless. I no longer vacuum,I get DH to do it as the frustration just makes me want to throw it out into the road.

ScottishNewbie · 22/06/2021 13:43

I despise my Shark. I got a cheap cordless from Amazon and it's a million times better.

Shark Upright Vacuum Cleaner [NV681UKT] Pet Hair,

We have the pet one too. The only difference with the pet model is the power head attachment.
