to think the Shark 'anti hair wrap' is actually a load of crap?

bought one as recommended as we've got pets and 3 long-ish haired girls in the house.. i was getting sick to death of having to take the scissors to the brush roll every time i vacuumed to get the hair off.

This thing, that is SUPPOSED to prevent it, is exactly the same as the last one... doesn't prevent it at all,, still having to cut it free every time.

anti hair wrap my arse.

Thank you @pussycatlickinglollyices will take a look!

ChaseTheSun · 22/06/2021 14:01

We have had the cordless pet hair one for around 6 months and I’ve only once had to manually remove a small clump of hair that was caught around the roller.
It is very light and easy to use but because of this, it almost doesn’t feel like it’s properly cleaned the carpet. If anyone is thinking of getting one then deffo get the one that comes with the extra battery.

RaindropsOnRosie · 22/06/2021 14:11

I've found the pet hair one is better, even though I don't have pets. I have long curly hair and haven't taken the scissors to it at all yet. If it ever gets stuck I just leave the hoover on the carpet for a few seconds and it clears it.

PattyPan · 22/06/2021 14:20

I’ve got longish hair that falls out all the time (PCOS) and haven’t had an issue with it on my cordless, in fact I find it quite satisfying when you empty it and there’s a ring of hair around the middle bit 🤣 maybe yours is malfunctioning?

IARTNS · 22/06/2021 14:24

Don't have a problem with ours, it works it way out of the rollers over time.

MrsFlinch · 22/06/2021 14:26

We have the cordless duo clean with anti hair wrap and tbh have had no problems with it so far (6 months) it came with the pet hair tool but to be honest I’ve not had to use it yet!

We have 3 cats and both Dd and I have long hair and it’s far superior than the Dyson cordless pet hair I had before, that is an absolute piece of crap!

ODFOx · 22/06/2021 14:31

Don't say that! I just ordered one on Amazon prime day as I had vouchers!

One thing I will recommend to anyone with a long haired teen who spends hours moulting in front of a mirror is to just run a rubber broom over the bedroom carpet before vacuuming. It picks up loads of the hair you can't even see with no effort at all and saves the vacuum lots of work/cleaning out.

cupsofcoffee · 22/06/2021 14:38

We've had ours over a year now and it still works perfectly.

OpalBerry · 22/06/2021 14:39

Nearly got one of these to have as well as our Miele as don't like cutting hair out. Got a Eufy instead, which I don't really use but dd uses it in her room.

Grapewrath · 22/06/2021 14:42

Sharks are all hype. I’ve had two and get were both utter shit

Agree completely.

Don’t understand the love for them that I see on MN. I use one at work and hate it!

LoopTheLoops · 22/06/2021 14:46

I see them raved about everywhere! I’ve never bought into the hype.

Rosewood017 · 22/06/2021 14:53

I really rate our Shark cordless. We have the TruePet one, though no pets but I have long hair.

EvilPea · 22/06/2021 14:54

@haba

Is there anything that works on long hair? Three of us have waist-length hair here (the 4th is bald, bless him! Wink) and I would love to not have freaking hair everywhere the whole time! I swear it's worse than dogs.
You just need a normal vacuum without a carpet beater and your fine

Unfortunately I’ve never seen a cordless one without it. We’ve got a Miele bag less and DH was desperate for the shark or dyson but I flatly refused, I can kill them with smoke coming out of them type death within about 3 months. It’s quite a skill

MissBridgetJones · 22/06/2021 14:58

Two long haired gals in our house (one hair down to bottom) - I think the anti hair wrap is fab

TowandaForever · 22/06/2021 14:58

@PomegranateSeed

We have a shark and the anti hair wrap works brilliantly. One child has very long extremely thick hair and the shark deals with it no problem. The plug holes are a different matter Hmm maybe it helps having a variety of carpet and are floors.
I use those sink drainer things in mine.
DimplesToadfoot · 22/06/2021 15:38

I love my Shark, Anti Hair wrap, Lift away, Pet. 3 of us with long hair, a dog and 4 rabbits and it gets all our hair up, I've had mine 2 years now and it works just as well as the first day we got it :-)

Bells3032 · 22/06/2021 15:43

I loved my shark to start with but you are right the anti hair wrap is rubbish! Only one female in this house (and DH is virtually bald) and still have to cut the hair out!

I find the suction has massively reduced and we've only had it six months! My henry is still my go to!

WhyMeLord · 22/06/2021 15:51

@newidentiy

Worst vac ever.

Gets blocked EVERY SINGLE TIME its used and total lie about the wrap around hair. I have the cordless, pet, anti wrap which should be making me a cup of tea as it vacs for the price it cost

HATE HATE HATE IT

My thoughts exactly, worst money I've ever spent. We've had ours a year and I'm going to give it away and get someone to recondition our old Dyson.
Diamondnights · 22/06/2021 15:54

I've got the pet hair one and it's the best vacuum I've ever had.

Paranoidandroidmarvin1350 · 22/06/2021 20:56

I have three of these ( cleaner so have them myself and in other houses ) and love them. Work really well and will re buy when it is done

sofiathe2nd · 22/06/2021 21:00

Totally agree, have the pet anti wrap one. It’s constantly getting blocked, the motor has had to be replaced twice under warranty and nothing will stop the hair getting wrapped around.. tried running it on hard floors but nothing will shift it.

Only had it a year and miss my 12 year old dyson that went on freecycle

Leonberger · 22/06/2021 21:03

Hate my shark.

I’ve been trying to return it forever but they won’t take the bloody thing back. It’s been relegated to the cupboard as an emergency backup while poor henry does the leg work.

Theboywiththearabstrap · 22/06/2021 21:27

Are you sure sure sure you have the anti wrap one? I accidentally bought one thinking it was the anti wrap and it was rubbish and got clogged up. I called them and they explained I had bought the wrong one so allowed me to pay the upgrade difference and I absolutely LOVE it. It’s amazing. Hairy dogs and humans here and it never clogs or jams and suction is excellent. I am a true convert having had Dysons before.

Northernsoullover · 22/06/2021 21:30

I find running your foot over the carpet in trainers pulls the hair into a ball..or the dry squeegee. Much easier than vacuuming.
