AIBU wanting a wall hung, rimless toilet?

Having a big bathroom refurb done. I really want a wall hung, rimless toilet but DH thinks that it's risky because it could fall off the wall and he's also sceptical about the rimless feature - he thinks that it will either be too powerful and splash out of the toilet bowl or be too weak and not wash properly.

Has anyone had one of these toilets installed and what are your views?

I had 2 for 5 years, never had to access the cistern. Great to clean!

Fair enough @justforthisnow @user1473878824 I had heard horror stories of people having to break through tiling but evidently that doesn’t have to be the case Smile

Had 2 wall hung toilets for twenty years , absolutely solid , will never have standard toilets again. So easy to clean the floor, makes the bathroom/ toilet appear larger. More expensive - yes , but imho worth every penny.
PS I am no lightweight 🙂

I wanted a rimless loo when I had my bathroom fitted - at the time they only worked with high level cisterns, which didn't work in the space.
It was 20+ years ago, might have changed since then.

NiceGerbil · 17/06/2021 01:26

What even is a rimless loo? Like an infinity pool? Or it uses a space/ time trick to mean it's edges are beyond our understanding?

NiceGerbil · 17/06/2021 01:27

It's not like one of those metal ones pubs used to have with no separate seat and you freeze your arse off is it?

Might mean DH doesn't sound 3 hours in there!

RightYesButNo · 17/06/2021 01:44

NiceGerbil Ha. If anyone has trouble selling them, they can just call them “infinity loos! - the next infinity pool,” and the Instagram influencers will be taking pictures with them by the millions.

We have wall hung rimless ones at work. And people aren't careful, I mean someone broke the sink off the wall Confused but the toilets so far are all intact after 3 years

PolkadotLion · 17/06/2021 02:54

I have to confess I read the first line of that as: "AIBU to want a well-hung..."

We have a wall hung toilet. No issues with it at all. Don't know about the rimless. As far as citern access - our one backs onto the closet in our bedroom, so if we had to access it, we would not have to break into a bathroom tile wall (hopefully).

Onairjunkie · 17/06/2021 08:03

We have a dark grey one. Yeah, they don’t ‘fall off the wall’, they’re built into the wall. Confused

They’re good. Very sleek. For a loo, that is.

Onairjunkie · 17/06/2021 08:04

Also there’s a secret wall hatch for accessing the cistern in the event of some kind of toilet-related mishap.

Member984815 · 17/06/2021 08:05

My parents are getting one in their refurb looks amazing , I'm waiting to see it in action but I'd love a rimless loo

Warmduscher · 17/06/2021 08:10

We’ve just had a new bathroom fitted. When I looked at the wall-hung ones I just felt they looked like public toilets and once I had that thought in my head, it really put me off having one.

PeterPomegranate · 17/06/2021 08:12

I can completely understand getting excited about a toilet. Also about kitchen bins (still have our 2005 wedding present kitchen bin - Simple Human - gifted by my sister who thought no one else would want to give us a bin).

I am heavy and I worried about wall hung but I googled recently (we are refurbishing our house) and the one I found could support 350kg (that’s 55 stone). I need to persuade husband though.

Don’t know much about rimless. May need to research.

FuckyouCovid21 · 17/06/2021 08:25

I've looked at the link but I'm not sure what's rimless about it? Am I being dim, it actually shows it being cleaned under the rim Confused

hedgehoglurker · 17/06/2021 08:29

I have a rimless, back to wall toilet by Raks. Having had various types including wall hung in the past, I opted for back to wall instead so urine dribbles can't hide underneath and spiders can't lurk behind.

(Rimless toilets have a lid and seat like a normal toilet, they just flush differently and don't have a rim.)

I have one and really like it. They've a huge steel frame in the wall, very secure. Rimless is easier to clean, and there's no splashing. I got mine from Lusso Stone
