Mid 50s dad who has everything, wants nothing. What on earth can I get him? That I can realistically order in time...please give me some suggestions. No hobbies as such, not the soppy type Confused im at a loss.

I feel your pain, mine is exactly the same. I've got him a new pair of trainers.

andyindurham · 14/06/2021 20:34

That's like a younger version of my dad. Luckily he lives nearby, so we tend to have him over for dinner, he gets his granddaughter to talk him to death and we have a nice afternoon together as a family. There might be a bit of Euro 2020 involved this year. But we agreed some time ago not to spend money on unnecessary and unwanted gifts, so Father's Day, birthdays etc tend to be token presents and spending time together.

I appreciate this might not work so well if you live at opposite ends of the country, or if you have a strong expectation of producing something gift-wrapped on these occasions. Or if you (or your household collectively) hate the idea of cooking dinner.

historygeek · 14/06/2021 20:35

I have ordered DH this: biercompany.co.uk/collections/fathers-day

He likes real ale, snacks and has feet.

Cattitudes · 14/06/2021 20:37

Something he already really likes but is looking a bit tatty.

CactusPat · 14/06/2021 20:38

Weather station

Subscription to paper/mag?
Socks with your face on

BonnyEm · 14/06/2021 20:38

A day out and a meal out on the way home?
That's what we're doing Grin

DappledThings · 14/06/2021 20:39

A card? If he "wants nothing" then maybe respect that and get him nothing.

CafeMochaVodkaValiumLate · 14/06/2021 20:46

Oooh a weather station is quite cool.

Bbq tongs, a picture/ painting/ poster of a place you’ve been/ band you’ve seen etc, chocs, wine puzzle (bought one for my dad- it’s a jigsaw of all the wine varietals and vineyards, if he’s into wine), noise cancelling headphones (zoom calls!), nice shirt/ wallet/ keyring with photos, Dishpatch meal, voucher to do a class of some sort? We are doing a sourdough making class later in the year. Photo album, photo frame etc? Nice Bottle of wine, port and cheese, whiskey/ whatever he’s into?

trilbydoll · 14/06/2021 21:33

DH has chocolate and a book coming. He's also asked for a bow to light fires, to compliment the flint I got him for Christmas. He wants to challenge his Dad to a fire starting contest Grin

InnaBun · 14/06/2021 21:35

One of those recipe subscription box things?

Twinmammaplusone · 14/06/2021 21:35

This. Full disclosure...it’s my company. These have been our best sellers for father’s day.

toomuchfaster · 14/06/2021 21:40

I've just ordered some chocolate on Moonpig for my dad. Don't know what else he'd want!

CafeMochaVodkaValiumLate · 14/06/2021 21:41

@trilbydoll could you post a link to the bow/flint?

It needs to be something unusual so this sounds good as he has 3 huge fire pits in his courtyard.

Last year I made a video with pictures and narration, it was a slideshow of family photos and a record of me speaking about how great my SO is, etc. Here is a tutorial I used to do that, maybe it will be useful for you- smartshow-software.com/how-to-make-your-own-slideshow.php

Flowers Experience related gifts are also great, i.e. picnic or a short road trip.
