Or if it's just a silly saying that people use and that it is all rubbish?

OP posts:
JaquelineBean · 12/06/2021 22:32

I don’t understand the question.

LoopTheLoops · 12/06/2021 22:32

What

NiceGerbil · 12/06/2021 22:32

How do you mean?

Like, everything happens for s reason? I don't think I've heard the phrase you mean, can you put some context?

WildWestWanda · 12/06/2021 22:33

Are you asking if there’s such a thing as fate? If so then no, there isn’t

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 12/06/2021 22:37

I believe in fate. Don't ask me why I just do. I'm not religious but it's comforting sometimes to think that there is something bigger at play.

BlossomOnTrees · 12/06/2021 22:42

Sorry, had a few wines Blush
I meant do you believe certain people cross your path for a reason or if it is silly to say there is always a reason why we meet others in the way we do?

OP posts:
BackforGood · 12/06/2021 22:43

If you mean

"It must be fate"
or
"Everything happens for a reason"

type comments / type of thinking, I do.
Some people would give credit to a higher power of course.

LoopTheLoops · 12/06/2021 22:43

No, I would like to know the reason why I met my awful ex if that was true!

bumpdownthestairs · 12/06/2021 22:44

I think I so, not everyone is meant to cross your path but certain people are.

BackforGood · 12/06/2021 22:44

x posted.

I don't think there is always a reason, no. I don't think life is that pre-planned.

RickiTarr · 12/06/2021 22:56

No. I believe in serendipity, which is even lovelier than fate. Smile

JaquelineBean · 12/06/2021 23:05

Ah no, I don’t believe in fate or “ meant to be”.

WorraLiberty · 12/06/2021 23:08

No, I don't believe in fate.

When you think of how many people there are in the world, of course you're going to meet the odd one or two who will change your life.

namcybotwinbloom · 12/06/2021 23:11

Yes I do

FATEdestiny · 12/06/2021 23:16

I've had a few G&T so will join you in your musings....

It wasn't until after we had our fourth (and final) child that my DH pointed out that the first letter of each of their first names spelt out FATE. I find that a teeny bit profound (and the inspiration behind my username).

I do believe that things happen for a reason.

WhyDoesItAlways · 12/06/2021 23:26

Absolutely not. We make choices, those choices take our lives and ourselves to different places. We meet other people who have also made choices that have led them to be there.

I don't like the idea of fate, that my choices are not my own. Fate is a cop out to make people feel better when things go wrong or over romanticise things that have ended positively.

PotassiumChloride · 12/06/2021 23:31

No.

I also don’t believe in “the one”. The reality is there are probably hundreds of “ones” who you’d be perfectly compatible with but who you didn’t meet or who weren’t available when you did.

KillerFlamingo · 12/06/2021 23:42

Not remotely, absolute rubbish in my opinion but each to their own and if it helps you be comfortable with your choices then that's good.

Hawkins001 · 12/06/2021 23:47

I must admit, there's a photograph of me and a person that later on we became good friends, that was certainly one of those mysteries. Although other than that example sometimes it seems I've encountered meeting with certain people more than chance would account for, so it does seem a bit of a mystery.

Beebopawhop · 12/06/2021 23:49

Yes there is a reason why people cross each others paths. I believe this.

Strugglingtodomybest · 12/06/2021 23:51

No. I believe in coincidence.

JoJoandGreg · 12/06/2021 23:53

I was once told that people cross our paths for a reason, we have to teach them something or them us. I'm not sure what the odd utter test ever taught me though.

JoJoandGreg · 12/06/2021 23:54
  • Utter twat
Houseofvelour · 12/06/2021 23:54

Yes, I do.

Sparklesocks · 13/06/2021 01:01

I think it’s an accident. But sometimes a nice accident.
