If you met someone else instead, your life would have adjusted accordingly if that makes sense. You would have become friends or partners with someone else and gone about your life as normal.

I think you can learn stuff from people and you can use the opportunities you get when certain people cross your path. If you find them difficult, persevere. Thats how you grow. If you dont notice someone you have nothing to offer them or learn from them they don't become significant for you. There is an intelligence at work but you've got to work with it not rely on it to sort your life out for you. It's not orchestrated.

I believe in free will,choices and circumstances.

Things happen because of that, not because there's some pre determined path that you'll end up on regardless.

No, everything is random. Sometimes good outcomes, sometimes bad outcomes. Usually when the outcome is good people like to assign a deeper meaning ie it was meant to be, fate brought us together etc. Rarely do you hear of people saying the same when the outcome is bad or tragic.
