Am I being unreasonable to be so obsessed with the layout of the Friday Night Dinner house?

The layout just doesn't feel right. It took me ages to work it all out. I may have even drawn it out. In my defence I've got Covid so I'm stuck in bed with box sets! Anyone else agree?

I've said this before it's just doesn't make sense.

If you had drawn it out- not that I'm suggesting you did- what would it look like?

I saw that little documentary on it on channel 4 the other week and they film in the real house you see the exterior of etc, it’s not a set within a studio. So it must just be the layout of that house!

I think it the utility is off the sitting room - that's the only odd bit.

Yeah I saw that doc, it’s a real house in north London. I was fully expecting palmers green but I think it’s Finchley?

I couldn’t work it out either, so googled it. I always thought the kitchen and lounge were the other way round. But one time realised it didn’t make sense.

I hadn’t thought about the layout but I always thought it managed to look like a big house on the outside but quite small rooms on the inside. A reverse tardis.

Weirdly I’ve been obsessing over this the last few days. DS1 has been watching this and is well and truly hooked. DH and I watched it all a few years ago. It’s so brilliant. Shit on it!!

How would it prevent him? The window is at the front of the house!!

I did read the scenes in the downstairs loo are actually an en suite upstairs. Which is why the downstairs look seems so disproportionatly large. (It was s filmed in the en suite because the actual downstairs loo was too small to film in.)

@ContinuousMonotoneBeep I had it in my head that the window was at the side of the room not the front. As if I haven't watched it enough had it on repeat when I was ill with covid, only thing I could concentrate on

Ah, that will be why I thought I saw a window in the downstairs toilet. They seem to get many people in there so it makes sense for it to have been filmed in a bigger bathroom.

Phew, I'm glad I'm not the only one. My confusion was always over the downstairs loo as it was so big and had a window which would potentially open to the dining room. Thank you to the poster above who explained it was filmed in a different bathroom. I can now watch it without trying to work out how they did it!
