Aibu to be annoyed with the neighbours who are unable to close a door without slamming it.

It’s a minimum of 22 times a day

No I don't think so but then I can't stand the people next door to me so everything they do annoys me! Grin

KingdomScrolls · 04/06/2021 21:37

Is it intended? If either of our backdoors is open and someone opens the front door, the hall door slams. We try to remember to keep it shut but sometimes there are surprises, I was painting walls upstairs last week and had all of the windows open wide (tilt and turn) DH was doing the garden and a few times the hall door slammed especially when we were carrying things and it was difficult to close behind you. It's like there's some kind of wind tunnel even when there isn't even a slight breeze.

NurseryFlirt · 04/06/2021 21:41

Our doors won't shut unless their slammed - character property and just a bit shoddy. Our neighbours must be losing it.

PixieDust28 · 04/06/2021 21:42

My toddler likes to slam doors. I put the foam thing on top of some doors but he will go to the boiler cupboard and slam that door.
Sometimes he's so quick he does it before I can stop him.

So YANBU but sometimes some people really don't mean to!

PixieDust28 · 04/06/2021 21:44

22 times is also very precise.. Grin.

Misty84 · 04/06/2021 21:45

@Daffodil123456 Do you live in my block of flats?! We have the same problem and it drives me and OH absolutely crazy 😖

daisybrown37 · 04/06/2021 21:47

Live next door to a HMO, so with fire doors throughout. Landlord refuses to put any kind of devise on the doors to stop the slamming, so we have to put up with it all day and night (students, so they go to bed early hours of the morning)

Current tenants have largely figured out how to shut the doors quietly but they forgot sometimes.

Anonaymoose · 04/06/2021 21:49

Nothing but sympathy from me. I have door slammers too. So irritating, I have to wear ear plugs otherwise I'd never get to sleep as mine especially like to slam every door in the house en route to bed Hmm
They moved in a couple of years ago and I swear they ripped up all the carpets and skimmed the doors as I never heard my previous neighbours.

Cam2020 · 04/06/2021 21:51

Ugh, I have one too. They also stomp up the stairs so loudly in the evening, I think DD has got out of bed!

AnonAnom940 · 04/06/2021 21:54

My nextdoor neighbour (or nextdoor but 1, I'm not sure, it's a terrace and sound travels) slams their door repeatedly every night between 9pm and 11 pm. And last night it was till after midnight. It's so hard it makes my house shake.

I have no idea why anyone needs to close their door so hard and so many times!!

baffledcoconut · 04/06/2021 21:55

Are you our other neighbours? Because the dicks in the middle do this. And the stomping. And screaming. I reckon there is a 5 hour grace period a day- about midnight to 5amAngry

LJenn · 04/06/2021 22:00

Uuuuugh oh my god I have a neighbour that doesn't understand what his door handles are for😂😂😂😂. In particular, his front door. It drives me mad! Especially when I'm chilling in bed having an early night and he's popping out to the shops and SLAM!!

Lol yes the foam things are a lifesaver! I have them on everything now 😂😂
CheerfulBunny · 04/06/2021 22:09

Oh mate, I feel you. I've moaned on here many times. My neanderthal neighbour has just come in and it sounds like a fucking explosion. It's like living next door to The Incredible Hulk. His girlfriend must come home and wearily start sweeping up the tattered remnants of her furniture and crockery after he's been smashing it up all day. I absolutely loathe him and I know the people the other side do as well. They went away recently and we all agreed it was like a holiday for all of us! I know people have worse but when he's in it's like a low level or hum of anxiety all the time because of the noise and knowing I can't make it stop.

Daffodil123456 · 04/06/2021 22:13
Smile

So glad that it isn’t just us then who is annoyed with this, when they slam the door our house shakes so even after all this time we still jump a bit when it happens

I've got a neighbour like that.
Bangs constantly. Have no idea what she's doing all the bloody time to be constantly crashing about but it's every day.
She doesn't give a shit

We have a similar situation the Cocklodger that’s in there is a DA we get to hear him regularly abuse the woman and the kids that aren’t his.

It’s not nice

Completely feel your pain. Had a new neighbour move in at the end of last year and she is so noisy it is literally like she lives in my house. Door slamming, stomping up the stairs, using extractor fans until the early hours, we even hear her sneeze ffs!!
So I’ve now sold my home of seven years, my first property - my pride and joy - with nowhere to move to as of yet but I cannot wait to get out of here!

We are looking for a move now as it is not going to get any better , we have tried all the correct channels with the Council and Police and we are getting no where with it.

they are like a letter c and fit over the door top or on the handle side out off reach of dc. Marvellous things i couldn't have coped with out them when my 6 were young. protects little fingers from getting caught in door slams too. Smile

Misty84 · 04/06/2021 22:26

We went through the correct channels too and have got nowhere, leaves us no choice but to move which is insane when we’re otherwise happy here. Makes our whole flat shake. It’s not nice.

featherbird · 04/06/2021 22:29

Omg this is happening in my block also. Everyone slams the front door then then the imbecile who lives above will drag his hand or dog lead along all of the railings as he walks up or down which also echoes throughout the building. Makes my blood boil 🤬

rulesofthecar · 04/06/2021 22:30

Our neighbours did this, and then they had a baby. Miraculously overnight, they learned how to close doors quietly! Gits! We would have loved to have got our own back for all the times they had woken our baby up, but couldn’t bring ourselves to be that harsh.

No it’s not nice and the hassle of moving with the extra expenses is not good.

Then you get people saying that it is like this everywhere I disagree with them
