It's half term, with work and school I rarely have a day at home where I can do nothing so today I am doing nothing. But I feel so guilty because I really need to clean and tidy because I never have motivation to do it and everywhere is a state. The lounge is an obstacle course and bathroom hasn't been cleaned for two weeks. Anyone else have pj days, where all they do is eat and watch TV? And if so how do you do it without feeling guilty?

Never mind, do it tomorrow.

bishbashbosh99 · 04/06/2021 15:22

Drink wine. Helps with the guilt

thereisonlyoneofme · 04/06/2021 15:29

If you feel really guilty you could move onto an armchair occasionallyGrin

Peach01 · 04/06/2021 15:31

I love a pj day but I can't relax if I have jobs hanging over my head. If the rooms aren't terrible I wouldn't bother, but if they are I set a timer for 15mins each room and don't spend a second more on cleaning/tidying that room. It mentally helps me switch off to relax and there's not as much left to do another day.
Sorry I can't help with not being able to avoid it entirely.

hiredandsqueak · 04/06/2021 15:33

I have been saying to myself for the last hour "ten minutes and then I will get up and clean the bathroom and the downstairs loo". It's just not happening. Dd's laid on the other sofa on her switch and it's so lovely just enjoying the peace.

IntermittentParps · 04/06/2021 15:44

Sofa it.
Life's too short for cleaning when you're not in the mood.

cravingthelook · 04/06/2021 15:46

I'm with @Peach01 I set myself a timer and try to race myself. Gets it done in super speed.

BarbaraofSeville · 04/06/2021 15:46

Do you have a garden? If so, sit in that, make the most of a nice day and its easier to ignore cleaning and tidying if you're not sat looking at it.

Meme69 · 04/06/2021 15:48

I've been on annual leave most of the week but had to work yesterday and all this weekend. I've not stopped all week and had great plans for today too, but apart from cleaning the kitchen at 7am, I've done bugger all all day. I feel lazy but I'm exhausted and need it.

I say stay on the sofa

That's what I do 😂 never move so fast in my life. Get more done when you have that timer going.
Findahouse21 · 04/06/2021 15:49

I'd get all of the jobs done in the morning and then enjoy the rest of the day

Fruitteatime · 04/06/2021 15:50

I'm working all weekend. Is it normal to never be in the mood for cleaning? It does get done (eventually and I'm talking at least one or two months in between cleans sometimes). I don't know if I'm depressed or lazy. I think lazy because I do have motivation to do fun stuff and go to work and take the kids out if we have planned something.

No garden and it's raining here anyway!

Why feel guilty for dust or washing up not being done ... chill

idontlikealdi · 04/06/2021 15:53

I'm sitting on the sofa, listening to the oven man cleaning my oven. I have to pop out later to collect kids but will then promptly return to the sofa.

I don't feel guilty at all.

IgglePiggleHater · 04/06/2021 15:53

Nope, not at all. Cleaning never ends... take some time for you.

We're currently killing time walking round in the rain to escape the builders at home and I wish, wish, wish we could just be having a duvet day! Done playground, done lunch out and it's still wet rainy hours till we can go home.

Dilbertian · 04/06/2021 15:57

GrinI'm still in PJs.

I've lolled under a cat (you simply cannot get up from the sofa if you are trapped under a cat), puttered about doing a job or half, lolled under a cup of tea (similar rules apply) puttered some more, eaten cake, been trapped under the cat again, and so on. I've actually got two jobs almost done that have been hanging over me for months, so inefficiency has been most productive today.

Chilllllll

Lazydaz · 04/06/2021 15:57

Enjoy it!

I think neither; you've just got your priorities right!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 04/06/2021 16:00

I’ve been sitting on the sofa all day, vbut it’s because my back went this morning and I can only hobble. I’ve been upstairs on hands and knees and came down backwards.

Morgan12 · 04/06/2021 16:02

I could never sit and do nothing if my house was that untidy. It takes me less than 5mins to clean the bathroom. I can't understand why it has been left for two weeks! It will be filthy!

SarahAndQuack · 04/06/2021 16:02

Don't worry - I work from home and always sit on the sofa with my laptop and a blanket tucked up round me. The sitting room is directly up against the pavement outside, and I am well aware all of my neighbours imagine I am monumentally lazy as I appear to sit surfing the net all day (obviously, I am currently surfing the net, so they're not wrong).

I do periodically point out that I'm working from home while sitting on the sofa, so I'm sure by the law of averages there should be people looking at you approvingly and presuming you're doing just that.

Thank you. I don't think I fully believe you though, I feel so sad that my children live in such a small cluttered home and I don't have the motivation to change that for them Sad I'm so glad it's not just me, my Mum and my Gran are/were total opposites.

It takes me at least an hour to clean the bathroom. None of the jobs are simple because they require picking up the toys/paperwork etc. I just can't find the motivation it tidy, if I tidied first I'd never sit down that day. It doesn't help that we have way too much stuff here to store as we have no hall cupboards, loft or garage/shed. Everything has to be kept on our two bed flat.

I'm exactly the same today, been doing some craft whilst watching tv

This!!

Don't stress OP, some people are naturally clean and tidy and others aren't. Some here will be very judgemental and superior about this though!

I work 12 hour shifts 3 days a week and I do absolutely nothing on my first day off other than watch TV, scroll through my phone and read! Even the reading is too much effort for me sometimes! I feel like a day of doing nothing at least once a week is essential for me!
