That's a shame. Smile

lakesummer · 28/05/2021 20:03

The death of the dc has had a fair amount of coverage in the USA. Along with Peleton refusing to do a recall until forced to.
Is it not being covered in the UK?

PieElla · 28/05/2021 20:04

I like our peloton, we've had it a couple of years and it was a godsend over lockdown

Dunno about the smug adverts. They're just adverts

Ginuwine · 28/05/2021 20:12

Hmm @ssd if you can't be bothered to explain why you can't stand the "smug" (why do they come across to you as that) Peloton adverts...

.. then I can't be bothered to post a proper reply agreeing or disagreeing either way.

MustardRose · 28/05/2021 20:21

Perhaps the OP is talking about the participants' joyous (bordering on orgasmic) ecstasy as they collapse in a sweaty heap at the end of the advert?

"Done and dusted. Just like that." What cobblers.

osbertthesyrianhamster · 28/05/2021 20:23

I want one. I wish I looked like the people in the ad.

Morningstar66 · 28/05/2021 20:24

Watch the SNL sketch 'Pelotaunt'

Might make you feel better.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 28/05/2021 20:25

YANBU. Easily the most irritating ads on TV at the moment, IMO.

cardibach · 28/05/2021 20:27

Having peloton won’t achieve that. I get you @ssd ‘Done and dusted...just like that’. Fuck off. Nothing could make me want to exercise less. Smug bastards indeed.
Tal45 · 28/05/2021 20:38

I can't think of anything more tedious than an exercise bike tbh.

Amdone123 · 28/05/2021 20:39

Yanbu.
I hate it, too. I love exercise but only at the gym and during Lockdown when I couldn't go, I felt so out of shape. I did my fair share of walking, but it wasn't the same.
The adverts annoy me.

MaMelon · 28/05/2021 20:42

Yep - definitely the most annoying advert on TV. Done and dusted...off you fuck with that shite.

Ginuwine · 28/05/2021 20:42

The adverts tend to annoy those who find an excuse to not do something, and Peloton pops up to remind them of this excuse.

Personally I have my own regime so it doesn't bother me when a company try to sell me theirs.

Moonwatcher1234 · 28/05/2021 20:44

Yes!! Why can’t people see how annoying they are...the music, the dancing, the sheer sanctimonious smugness of it. Makes me so irrationally angry!

Paralithic · 28/05/2021 21:00

Ah yes, Peloton, which wiped £1.1 billion off its company value with its sexist “my husband gave me a Peloton and 12 months on I don’t recognise myself” 2019 Christmas ad.

MrsTerryPratchett · 28/05/2021 21:03

Nope. I run and I still think peloton and all who sail in her are tedious. Backed up by my awful arsehole of a racist, sexist BIL got one. Another reason to mute the twat on FB.

CheerfulBunny · 28/05/2021 21:07

The one with the girl and the lovely fluffy cat just makes me feel sad, tbh. Does she only see her cat and the Peloton instructors all day? Is that her life? Does she have no friends and family?
It's possible I've gone too deep on this though.

RickJames · 28/05/2021 21:08

I have my own gym in my cellar with rower, cross trainer and full bench etc, I exercise every day AND I still hate their adverts.

They are smug and body shaming. Like it's so easy to devote an hour a day to get sweaty, it isn't. You need lots of room and money to do peloton. It's so unrealistic. I do make time but it comes at the cost of other things. My gym must have cost, over time, about 6000€. That's not nothing and it was bought after years of working out in public gyms, and I have a big house so I have room. It's not realistic for beginners or people with small houses.

Plus, I would not pay for someone to nag me online.

Floralnomad · 28/05/2021 21:11

YANBU , I can’t stand those ads , it would actually be novel if they had just one where the person using the equipment was remotely unfit looking as that may encourage someone like me ( normal BMI but not gym fit) to actually get one .

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 28/05/2021 21:18

Never mind the smugness have you seen the fucking price of it!

£50 a month for the next 600 years or whatever -fuck off!

Amdone123 · 28/05/2021 21:19

@Ginuwine, I think there is an element of truth in this, for me anyhow. Looking back on the past year, I could have done more: I did make excuses. On the other hand, since the pandemic was unprecedented, a mixture of anxiety and generally being lethargic, didn't help.
I'll know what to do next time ( God forbid!).

ssd · 28/05/2021 21:32

The bit where she says 'with you Ben' or something - does she think he can hear her?

Structuredsward · 28/05/2021 21:42

The way the woman says "With you" makes me want to gnaw my own feet Grin

Paralithic · 28/05/2021 21:50

And the “you smashed it Peloton”.

Nah. “Smashing it” would be going out on my road bike and getting some fresh air and enjoying the scenery whilst getting in some decent miles.

Not listening to music I hate and being shouted at.
