I LOVE my Peeloton, it s the best thing I've ever bought, it's been life changing & life saving for me... I like the adverts as they inspire me to get on.

Now We buy any car ads.....🤮🤮

OhRene · 28/05/2021 22:07

Did you hear about the controversy around a US Peloton ad? A hubby buys his young, fit and thin wife a peloton and is constantly praising (pushing) her to exercise. The ad became a viral sensation for all the wrong reasons. It did not look good on Peloton.

So Ryan Reynolds got the Peloton girl to do an Aviation Gin advert. And it was funny as f**k.

DolphinFC · 28/05/2021 22:19

Don't all adverts contain smug people?

Qwqqtttr · 28/05/2021 22:23

No disrespect to those who enjoy Peleton but the ad does take itself waaay too seriously.

Soulstirring · 28/05/2021 22:26

We love our peloton. Use it daily. Genuinely feel like the person in the add at the end of a ride....looking like them is another matter entirely. The ad is daft, agreed but it really is a feel good purchase. The instructors and content is excellent.

mogsrus · 28/05/2021 22:33

Irritating,maybe,but my absolute hate is the ever present SCS the only company I wish would go bankrupt just to stop hearing about
furniture discounts,

Basecamporbust · 28/05/2021 22:41

I have to turn the sound down the ads annoy me so much. The one that says Don’t hold back on me Peleton makes me irrationally angry. It’s a fucking exercise bike, how the hell can it hold back on you? Presumably you set the programme and peddle the fucker. It isn’t a sentient being thinking , Oh I know, just to be a bastard, I’m going to deliberately refuse to go at the speed the person sitting on me is peddling at.

stackemhigh · 28/05/2021 23:12

YANBU. The fake, American-style, over familiar language.

‘I got you, Peloton!’ How, you’ve never me seen in my life!

stackemhigh · 28/05/2021 23:17

@Ginuwine

The adverts tend to annoy those who find an excuse to not do something, and Peloton pops up to remind them of this excuse.

Personally I have my own regime so it doesn't bother me when a company try to sell me theirs.

Nope, they annoy people who see through their cheery, ‘we’re all in it together’ facade.
lakesummer · 28/05/2021 23:22

Honestly they didn't particularly annoy me until I realized they were happy to keep selling dangerous equipment.

They had to be shammed into stopping by the safety bods saying they would release videos of dc being harmed.

So all this person centered happy clappy nonsense is a very thin veneer.

But I live in the USA home of dreadful advertising.

Jasfc · 29/05/2021 00:03

@CheerfulBunny

The one with the girl and the lovely fluffy cat just makes me feel sad, tbh. Does she only see her cat and the Peloton instructors all day? Is that her life? Does she have no friends and family? It's possible I've gone too deep on this though.
I'm suspicious of that cat. It spends way more time than is normal watching her exercise. I think it's in with Peloton and making sure she does the exercises. Or else.
ZeroFuchsGiven · 31/05/2021 11:57

@lakesummer

The death of the dc has had a fair amount of coverage in the USA. Along with Peleton refusing to do a recall until forced to. Is it not being covered in the UK?
I hadn't heard about this so just looked it up. That is horrendous!
