To be irrationally annoyed with people who don’t put their arms... through their sleeves?

Aaarggh it just does my head in!

Yesterday a woman I follow on Instagram attended a very important, very formal event and posted a bunch of photos. In every single picture, including the official portrait, she has her coat over her shoulders, with her forearms and handbag peeking out from underneath and her sleeves just hanging pointlessly by her sides.
I get that she’s aiming for some sort of sophisticated Jackie O vibe but I just find it so try-hard and ridiculous... I mean seriously, even in the official photograph? None of the other women are even wearing coats and she can’t even put hers on properly!

What are these people afraid will happen if they just put their f*king arms through their f*king sleeves?!

I've never really thought about it, so I just did. Nope. Couldn't give a shit .

Rainallnight · 28/05/2021 06:55

Shoulder robing. It’s a thing. I agree with you that it’s annoying.

AngeloMysterioso · 28/05/2021 07:15

Justmuddlingalong thanks for your contribution, I guess... Grin

What a weird thing to get annoyed about. It doesn't impact you at all.

Dizzywizz · 28/05/2021 07:23

I get you @AngeloMysterioso!! I am also irrationally annoyed by this. Like you say, it looks so try hard.

OlivePenderghast · 28/05/2021 07:29

Just searched Google and it looks like shoulder robing is already over. The new thing is letting your coat fall off your shoulders with your arms in the sleeves so YANBU Wink

Atalantea · 28/05/2021 07:30

Are we still half tucking? That's more stupid

Robing, meh, its too hot for arms in, but too cold for no coat/cardy

imaginethemdragons · 28/05/2021 07:31

Yes.
Also big bunches of keys attached to belt hooks on trousers/jeans.
Pfffft. Annoys the shit out of me.

GucciJackie · 28/05/2021 07:33

Can you post a picture? Not sure Im visualising this correctly

AngeloMysterioso · 28/05/2021 07:35

Babbly do you only ever have feelings about things that directly affect you?

Atalantea she’s not in the UK, it’s pretty warm where she is.

I just try not to make nasty comments on the internet about women because I don't like how they dress tbh (but I'll get slated for saying that here because you're only slagging them off in a jovial, light-heated, "oh aren't women funny little creatures" kind of way behind their backs).
picturesandpickles · 28/05/2021 07:42

It doesn;t annoy me at all but I don;t understand how the jacket doesn;t just fall off?

PixieDust28 · 28/05/2021 07:42

Oh, you're bitchy.

You took the time out of your day to get worked up about her jacket then post about her on an Internet forum.

Get in the bin.

AngeloMysterioso · 28/05/2021 07:43

Babbly Well, if you read the title you’ll see I said people, not women... it does my head in when men do it too! (Although they don’t seem to do it as often.)

But congratulations for being a better person than me Grin

OP posts:
picturesandpickles · 28/05/2021 07:45

And can I also agree with @Babbly, there is too much picking at every thing women wear/say/do

CoffeeCakey · 28/05/2021 07:45

I would prefer to focus on why she was at the important, very formal event has she achieved something - if so celebrate that rather than drag her down for not wearing her coat in a way you deem suitable. Did you scrutinise the men's attire?

Babbly · 28/05/2021 07:46

Your entire post talked about a specific woman.... But, I guess you're correct, making nasty comments about men for the way they dress would also make you "bitchy" (as PP have said you are)
AngeloMysterioso · 28/05/2021 07:51

CoffeeCakey she achieved being engaged to someone who’s father has achieved something. She’s a model so her own achievements are being naturally beautiful and wearing clothes.
The men are all in suits with their arms through their sleeves

Being a model isn't as easy as "wearing clothes".

CoffeeCakey · 28/05/2021 08:01

But anyway yes YABU to be irrationally angry about this

This woman is young, beautiful, rich, successful and high-fashion. I wonder why OP dislikes her Hmm
MacCoffee · 28/05/2021 08:04

This is a pet peeve of mine. Makes my eye twitch Grin like the coat/jacket is in a permanent state of being just about to fall off. Weirdly makes me anxious GrinGrin

AngeloMysterioso · 28/05/2021 08:07

Babbly I don’t dislike her... I like her enough to follow her on Instagram! It just drives me nuts when people don’t put their damn coats on properly like it’s a fashion statement.

OP posts:
Armi · 28/05/2021 08:08

I am irritated by it too. Would love it if they put their hood up and wore their coat like a cape, however, perhaps whilst whizzing downhill on a bike.

Atalantea · 28/05/2021 10:09

I have no idea who you are talking about
