Any breastfeeding mums had the vaccine?

I'm sorry; I'm shamelessly posting here for traffic. Could anyone who has had the vaccine whilst breastfeeding share their experience? I'm currently feeding my 5 month old and am considering booking my 1st vaccine. While The Breastfeeding Network have stated there is no known mechanism through which the vaccine ingredients can pass into breastmilk, they have said that there are some limited anecdotal reports that some women have noticed symptoms of mastitis or altered milk supply following the vaccine. I'd love to hear the experiences of other mums here, if possible. Trying to make my mind up!

Thank you!

Had it 8 days ago, feeding my 2 year old a few times a day. I've been feeling a bit under the weather since as if I'm run down but breasfeeding and my toddler have been absolutely fine.

I am BF and I had the AZ vaccine 3 weeks ago (I’m over 40). My DD is older and only feeding twice a day though now, but I’d still have had it if she were younger.
I didn’t notice any change in supply but as I say, DD older so feeding less (she was 19 months when I had it).

recreationalcalpol · 26/05/2021 10:32

Yep. Had it on Sunday. Fed my two week old straight after in the hope she’d be getting fresh antibodies Grin

All fine, no symptoms at all

Somethingsnappy · 26/05/2021 10:33

Very promising so far! Thank you x

Yes. I trust Wendy. Had both doses of AZ. All good.

Asbolutely · 26/05/2021 10:35

Feeding a baby a few months older than yours, but still feeding 4-5 times in 24hrs, and had the jab a week ago. I had zero side effects, and baby doesn't seem to have noticed anything at all. No difference in timing or amount she feeds. I was slightly anxious before getting it, but it was absolutely fine :) I rationalized that it would be better than risking long covid. Looking after babies and toddlers is tiring enough, I didn't want the exhaustion of long covid added into it!

LittleMissNaice · 26/05/2021 10:35

I had my second dose of AZ yesterday. DD absolutely fine.

Aurora791 · 26/05/2021 10:35

I had the AZ, still feeding my 18 month old at night and no issues in supply etc. If anything was happy to give her the antibodies as a child in her nursery class tested positive a few days after I had the jab! Having my second next week and no concerns about the breast feeding side of it!

Asbolutely · 26/05/2021 10:36

I had pfizer, btw. Will happily go for my 2and in a few weeks.

Asbolutely · 26/05/2021 10:36

2and?! 2nd

NameChange30 · 26/05/2021 10:37

Yep had my first vaccine yesterday (Pfizer). DD is 8 months old. No issues whatsoever, I'm delighted to have the vaccine and pass on the antibodies to her.

TheDeckchairGardener · 26/05/2021 10:37

I had the Pfizer vaccine 5 days ago and am still breastfeeding an 8 month old. Haven’t noticed any difference although she isn’t having as much milk since introducing food anyway.

NicFairy · 26/05/2021 10:38

I had Pfizer last week and am breastfeeding my 10 month old. Didn't even think about any side effects for DS to be honest. Didn't notice anything different to do with supply or feeding.

MrsBudd · 26/05/2021 10:44

Pfizer last week and feeding ten month DD. No issiea

MrsBudd · 26/05/2021 10:44

*issues!!

Fullofthejoysofspring · 26/05/2021 10:45

I've had both doses of Pfizer (second dose 2 weeks ago) and am breastfeeding a 4.5 month old. I haven't had any issues with supply or mastitis, but she is a frequent snacker so maybe that has helped?

Whiffle77 · 26/05/2021 10:48

Had AZ two months ago, and feeding my now 6 month old - no issues at all.

Purplesparkle34 · 26/05/2021 10:48

I had my first dose of Pfizer almost 2 weeks ago, and am feeding my 3 month old.
All fine, not had any problems or side effects.

Twinmammaplusone · 26/05/2021 10:49

Yes. Due my second dose next weekend. I had AZ and felt rough for a couple of days but no other side effects. Still bf and all fine.

Jenkin · 26/05/2021 10:49

I had Pfizer, still breastfeeding my 2 year old and no issues

Somethingsnappy · 26/05/2021 10:55

Nothing negative at all so far.... Great! Keep them coming! Smile

When everything is so new, getting the chance to see some 'anecdata' is fascinating.

Me!

No side effects at all bar feeling slightly chilled the night after the vaccine. Definitely no mastitis or blocked ducts etc. My baby didn’t have any side effects at all, he was totally fine & normal. He was 5 months when I had the vaccine.

StClairStreet · 26/05/2021 11:00

Forgot to say, I had the AZ

DoubleHelix79 · 26/05/2021 11:05

BFing my six week old DS. Had the vaccine on Monday, no issues. I wouldn't worry about it.

DoubleHelix79 · 26/05/2021 11:07

I'd be very weary of anecdotal evidence - blocked ducts for example are quite common, so the fact that some women had them after being vaccinated is hardly surprising.
