Has anyone who is currently breastfeeding had the Jag? If so, did u have any side affects on you and subsequently your baby?

aibu for not getting the Jag because of this? It's filling me with a bit of anxiety actually which is unlike me.

I’ve had it. I had minimal side effects, and the toddler was fine.
I’m glad to be confident that I’m now unlikely to die or be disabled by Covid, before I was always worried that I’d catch it and ruin her childhood. It was worth it for me!

Oysterbabe · 23/05/2021 19:43

I've had it and am breastfeeding. It was fine. I had a sore arm for a few days, that's it. No effect on DS.

norbert23 · 23/05/2021 19:44

I've had both of my AZ vaccines now and my bf toddler is absolutely fine, I just felt tired after both of them but fine within 24 hours x

I’m breastfeeding and had the COVID jab. I had the usual side effects and no impact on my baby.

Mousetown · 23/05/2021 19:49

Forgot to say - I had AZ

I’ve had my first Pfizer, no side effects and the baby was absolutely fine.

HopeValley · 23/05/2021 20:01

Sore arm but no other ill effects. Totally forgot about it the next day. 3 month baby fed as normal. (Pfizer)

letsallbemermaids · 23/05/2021 20:01

I've had my first AZ jab (before it was advised that under 40s should have a different one) and I'm breastfeeding. No issues.

theresstardustinmyhead · 23/05/2021 20:03

Had Pfizer yesterday. No side effects for me or my 3 month old. They didn't even blink when I mentioned breastfeeding. You're fine.

EmmaOvary · 23/05/2021 20:03

Had AZ 1st dose, breastfeeding my baby. No effects whatsoever on baby.

YourSexNotGenderIsOnFire · 23/05/2021 20:04

I've just had Pfizer this week. Minimal side effects - my arm hurt a little like I'd just had a punch from a toddler. I'm breastfeeding and there's no evidence that it has any negative effect on the milk. Actually, it might mean you can pass on some antibodies through the milk offering a little protection.

Your choice but I'm happy I went for it.

Zarene · 23/05/2021 20:04

I've had Pfizer, and I and baby are absolutely fine. As PP says, t chance of anything bad happening because of COVID is infinitely greater.

YourSexNotGenderIsOnFire · 23/05/2021 20:06

Q. Are breastfeeding women being offered COVID-19 vaccination?
The JCVI advice published on 30 December 2020 says there is no known risk in giving available COVID-19 vaccines to breastfeeding women.

Breastfeeding women will now be offered vaccination at the time when they become eligible.

Although there is lack of safety data for these specific vaccinations in breastfeeding, there is no plausible mechanism by which any vaccine ingredient could pass to your baby through breast milk. You should therefore not stop breastfeeding in order to be vaccinated against COVID-19.

Baby born in March and I had AZ in may, no effects on baby, I had a few shivers but took paracetamol and I was fine.

RogueRebel · 23/05/2021 20:08

There is some evidence that babies who are breastfed after the mother has been vaccinated show antibodies.

I had my first Pfizer jab on Friday at 40+3 and spoke to a doctor, practice manager and my midwife team before agreeing to take the vaccine.

Sore arm at 330am and gone by today no other side effects.

PastaLaVistaBBY · 23/05/2021 20:10

I had it while breastfeeding. Only side effect I experienced was one night of chills, but really not severe. My baby wasn’t affected at all.

There’s evidence that antibodies pass into your milk after the vaccine - so by having it you wouldn’t only be protecting yourself, you’d be protecting your baby too.

Foxhasbigsocks · 23/05/2021 20:12

Op my dsil has just had it and is bf. Read the advice linked to above and see what they say on the breastfeeding network. The bf network has a pharmacist Dr Wendy Jones who is an expert on medicine safety and bf. My sil came to the conclusion it’s safe amd went and had it done. All well and her l.o is completely fine Flowers

StopSayingDueDiligence · 23/05/2021 20:13

I did, and it honestly didn't cross my mind.

In fact, I would like to think I'd pass over some antibodies to him.

Youarenothere · 23/05/2021 20:14

Breastfeeding a 2 month old, had the Pfizer jab. Baby fine, I had a headache for 3 days but that’s it.

Foxhasbigsocks · 23/05/2021 20:14

Op this is the bf network advice on jags generally - safe for bf women [https://www.breastfeedingnetwork.org.uk/vaccinations/] in case you want to read the full explanations why it’s safe
