Practically brand new Chelsea type ankle boots from Clarks, light brown suede for £3.
Found them last September and was thinking I can't afford stylish and comfortable shoes for autumn/winter.

roses2 · 23/05/2021 21:27

A few times a year I find a £150-£200 designer dress for £3. I got some Tommy Hillfigger cords last month for £3 which are so comfy and a designer dress for work (can't remember the brand but when I googled it, it was £180).

A pair of immaculate Victoria Beckham jeans. Retail at £320 .... I got them for £3.95 in a charity shop. They fit perfectly and look amazing ... I could flog them on eBay, but keep them just for me. Smile

Oh, actually a rucksack for 50p. Had it 25 years...it's bloody brilliant. It has a zip that increases/decreases the volume of it. Has been all over the world! Perfect hand luggage size when unzipped, take everything in there.

NotImpossible · 23/05/2021 21:30

Maxmara cashmere coat for £1.99. I wore if for 2 winters then sold it on eBay.

LockdownCheeseToastie · 23/05/2021 21:32

A chintz pottery dish set for a friends birthday for £4.50 and a Carlton ware dish for my collection for £3
My best ever buy was a £499 coat (jaeger wool cashmere) with tags for £10

00100001 · 23/05/2021 21:35

And also a charity shop near me does 10 baby clothes for £1.

I got my niece a whole bunch of Polarn O'Pyret, JoJo, vertbaudet, little bird, Frugi etc clothes in various sizes. Probably spent £3.

(For reference, a Frugi baby grow is around £13 new)

Very pleased with myself this week for snapping up some 1930s Susie Cooper ceramics in what seems to be an unusual colourway. Thirteen pieces, including a coffee pot, for under a tenner. Absolute bargain.

LaurieSchafferIsAllBitterNow · 23/05/2021 21:49

Christian Louboutin shoeboots (soles unmarked) for £7.50, they said they were a 7 but I think they were a US 7....I believe they are still the prized possession of DD's bestie, a size 5!

Also got a fabulous leather jacket for myself for a tenner, cannot remember what make, but there was one on ebay for over £200. I still have that and wear it often.

Temp023 · 23/05/2021 21:52

Poole pottery planter for £4.. I did go back and give them an extra £20 when I realised though.
It’s worth about £50, I believe

A 1960s G Plan extendable table which cost me £30. You see them for sale from dealers for around £800.

Duckswaddle · 23/05/2021 22:00

A bright pink genuine Coach bag for £10.
A navy Toast overcoat for £15.
Jigsaw black leather bag for £4.

Lots of other little bits and pieces but those are probably my favourites.

RosaBudDrood · 23/05/2021 22:11

Loads in the last year.

  • A beautiful Michael Kors bag.
  • DH got a brand new Calvin Klein shirt for £6 with tags still on
  • A Tommy Hilfiger jumper for £8
  • Yesterday, I bought a beautiful pair of River Island jeans for £5.
Mummyrowland · 23/05/2021 23:20

Radley purse for £1 almost brand new.

Dad got a handmade tailored professional suit for £15. Brand new they started a _350!

landofgiants · 23/05/2021 23:31

A Jaeger jacket for £10 - new, I think, with a gift tag in the pocket. I've had some really nice things over the years, very jealous of that planter, though, it's ace!

00100001 · 24/05/2021 07:54

Oh, yeah DS17, got new Nike trainers for £4.50. and some Levi's for £3

RaspberryCoulis · 24/05/2021 07:58

So many things over the years. Most recent was a Phase Eight navy jumper which is cotton with 5% cashmere and is so lovely and soft. Cost me £5.

The very best things were about 5 years ago - a pair of brand new Doc Marten chelsea boots for £9.99 - took a bit of breaking in but they are the best boots I've ever had.

And a 100% wool coat from Hobbs which still had all the tags on, a gorgeous burnt orange colour, I've had so many lovely comments about it. Original selling price was well over £140 and I think I gave £24.99 for it.

Endless stocking fillers for the kids, books, pictures, other bits and pieces.

Pottedpalm · 24/05/2021 08:05

A ‘designer’ scented candle in a pot. It wasn’t my sort of thing at all and I was cross when DH brought it home. He said the assistant in the charity shop said it was an expensive item; he paid £20. It was pink; I only have cream candles (😂).
I did a bit of googling and found it was indeed expensive. I put it on ebay and bidding was fierce. Sold for over £100.

Mydogisagentleman · 24/05/2021 08:06

A Chinese wedding cupboard for £20.
I will be putting it on eBay soon as we are having our kitchen done and we won’t need it.
I am optimistic of getting at least £300 for it.

CaribouCarafe · 24/05/2021 08:08

An FCUK dress with the label still on that was still being sold at the store for £115, which I paid £20 for - couldn't believe my luck!

BahHumbygge · 24/05/2021 08:14

Brora Icelandic style jumper for £7. Looked it up on ebay and it was £420 new.

Greenshoes (handmade ethical shoe company in Devon) paid £10, retail at £190 new.

Rosebean92liveson · 24/05/2021 08:55

A black woolen superdry coat for £15 - the coat was in the superdry store at the time for £120!

Triphazard101 · 24/05/2021 09:05

I'm not really into high end or designer stuff but when my DC were little, I used to look for stuff for world book day costumes in charity shops. I found a designer long black skirt for a pound. I made it into a cape Blush it's one of the best value things I ever bought!!Grin

NotMeekNotObedient · 24/05/2021 09:57
