To put masks in the sock draw?

ToastAndCoffee · 10/05/2021 18:53

Each child has a sock drawer in a set of draws. Each child requires multiple masks - fabric, reusable- for school and out and about.
When sorting the washing I came up with the brilliant idea of throwing the clean masks in with the clean socks in the relevant child's draw.
My thoughts were that they go in the draw each day for socks so can grab it then, and if I put it in their normal clean clothes basket it would get lost as they use it as a second cupboard and never put the clothes away
The reaction from the teens was:
Omg grim!
And
Thats wierd and unnecessary

I just thought I was being practical!

So YABU its grim and wierd
YANBU good solution

Sounds pretty practical to me!

PS. drawER Wink

WillowintheUK · 10/05/2021 18:55

YABU to call a chest of drawers a set of draws.
However, YANBU to put clean masks in a drawer with clean socks.

ToastAndCoffee · 10/05/2021 18:58

It's a set not a chest. Wink it is one of those MDF jobbies with the fabric collapsy draw bit.

Unless you have a drawer for dirty socks, this is fine.

ToastAndCoffee · 10/05/2021 18:58

And yes, my spelling is shit, but we move Grin

Clean fabric item in with other clean fabric item, I’m not seeing the problem

kowari · 10/05/2021 19:00

Aren't they all washed together anyway?

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 10/05/2021 19:00

I have some hooks in the porch on the way out the front door. We used to use them for wet coats. Now they are for clean masks so you can grab one on the way past.

Kpo58 · 10/05/2021 19:02

I keep fabric masks in DH sock and pants drawer. Is that worse? Hmm

Meowchickameowmeow · 10/05/2021 19:02

My masks are in the same drawer as my beautiful handknit socks,
everything is washed before they go in there so how is that grim?

ToastAndCoffee · 10/05/2021 19:03

Hmm. Ok, so I see by the answers we have established my teens are indeed being wierd about their masks. I feel vindicated and will continue to toss them in their drawERs.

You are being incredibly unreasonable for the use of the word ‘draw.’

EnjoyingTheSilence · 10/05/2021 19:04

Why aren’t your teens putting their own clothes away?

ShinyHatStand · 10/05/2021 19:04

Yabu for putting your teens' washing away.
Let them put their masks wherever they like 😀

Mine go with my pants.

Palavah · 10/05/2021 19:06

My (clean) masks are in the same drawer as my (clean) drawers

ToastAndCoffee · 10/05/2021 19:09

Why aren’t your teens putting their own clothes away?
They do ish Dh washes, I fold into baskets that are deposited at their bedroom doorway and they are then meant to put away. Note the meant to.... The socks are in our room due to lack of storage. It's a little MDF job next to the clean washing spot for ease of tossing them in. And so they dont get lost. See above re floordrobe. We have a clean washing g spot as dh works from.home and washes it all, then pops it into a pile which I then sort and fold when I get a chance (work long shifts out of the house with an hour commute). If they need anything right now it is at least clean and they can ferret it out and iron it if I haven't had a chance.

Sounds sensible to me!

I have a key hanger thing by the front door which I hang masks on - slightly reduces the chances of me forgetting them!

FeelinHappy · 10/05/2021 19:15

Not grim, but it wouldn't be a convenient place for us. Ours are stored near schoolbags because they go straight into bags, not straight onto the body like socks.

steff13 · 10/05/2021 19:28

I think it's fine. I have two lingerie bags for ours, hanging on the inside of the closet door. You take a clean one on your way out from the "clean" bag and put your dirty one in the "dirty" bag when you come home. Weird, what things have come to.

I’m no scientist. But isn’t that how foot & mouth started ?
😂😂😂😂

Seriously though, quite a good idea I think

Voomster953 · 10/05/2021 20:02

What people fret about never ceases to amaze me.

kowari · 10/05/2021 20:22

Shoebox under their bed?

BaronessBomburst · 10/05/2021 20:27

I keep mine with my knickers. Grin

Verbena87 · 10/05/2021 20:27

Mine are in with my pants and socks - all clean.
