Sharing facemask

Would you share your partners facemask? Obvs you generally have your own but if you forgot it and needed to pop into shops would you use it?

Vallmo47 · 09/05/2021 17:02

Wow, some comments.

If I didn’t have any other option, yes I would borrow my partner’s face mask. We are the same household, it’s my other half and we kiss so there you go...

SchrodingersImmigrant · 09/05/2021 17:02

It's been over a year... Masks are generally one use. So yes. I would take my DH's one because it's clean. If not there is always a back up. Who has just 1 mask each. We keep emergency single ise ones in a car just in case.

NowtSoQueerAsFolk · 09/05/2021 17:04

A clean one? Sure.

I wouldn't use one that hadn't been washed though.

RoseRedRoseBlue · 09/05/2021 17:06

Yes, clean or otherwise. Really doesn’t bother me, As it is I am still using the same one that has been kicking about in my bag for weeks on a end.

MusicMenu · 09/05/2021 17:07

I wouldn't do it by choice but in the situation you describe, if the choice was wear it or go home to get one, I'd wear it.

I tinkbthisbthread shows very few people are wearing them properly, washed or replaced after very use Grin

NowtSoQueerAsFolk · 09/05/2021 17:11

@Lazypuppy

Yes and we do normally when he forgets his. Faceless are pretty pointless anyway and mostly for show 🤷‍♀️
I assume you mean facemasks are pretty useless?

Empirical evidence shows otherwise. One example, in a hotel in Switzerland, there was a Covid outbreak. Some staff were wearing masks, some were wearing visors. Only staff wearing just the visors got infected.

mooonstone · 09/05/2021 17:12

Hell no

I care about the health of my skin. I don’t want his saliva and whatever other bacteria that is festering in the moisture of his mask on my face. If my own germs give me mascne, why would I compound the situation by adding someone else’s germs to the predicament?

Embroideredstars · 09/05/2021 17:13

@YorkiePanda

And this kind of thing is why facemasks are next to useless in community settings in our culture. Gross.
They are anyway...

They are a sop to look like we're doing something about the pandemic. As soon as the mask becomes damp it's useless. The only masks that will prevent you getting covid are ffp3 ones.

mooonstone · 09/05/2021 17:15

You guys do realise you can ask the shop for a mask if you don’t have one? Sainsbury’s, Tesco & M&S keep them at the entrance for customers

purplecorkheart · 09/05/2021 17:16

No I wouldn't. The same way I would not share a tissue or toothbrush.

DappledThings · 09/05/2021 17:17

I think this thread shows very few people are wearing them properly, washed or replaced after very use grin
I know I'm not. Never did. I round them all up and chuck them in the wash when I remember. We deliberately leave at least two in each car to minimise the chances of getting to a shop and being caught without one.

MegaClutterSlut · 09/05/2021 17:20

I would use dhs mask. Yes its a bit minging but we share everything else so I'd use it if I had too tbh

MuddySocks · 09/05/2021 17:21

No they smell after they've been worn.

I would once or twice perhaps but not really, no.

It's a bit grim and smelly

myfuckingfreezer · 09/05/2021 17:21

People say 'they share bodily fluids' (thanks for sharing,)

Were you unaware that partners kiss/have sex?

It's NOT just their breath and mouth either. It's saliva particles and dead skin cells and lung fluid and germs too. VOM

Again, you don't kiss your partner?

Pintosmash · 09/05/2021 17:22

Yes I would and his toothbrush.

Donann · 09/05/2021 17:22

Never 🤮

mooonstone · 09/05/2021 17:29

sometimes I read relationship threads on here and think, how do so many OPs even get so far gone into a relationship with such a loser? I understand now. It’s clear from this thread that there’s a significant amount of posters who have very low standards.

mooonstone · 09/05/2021 17:31

People have sex - no one’s shocked by that. That’s not an equivalent to sharing used face masks though so it’s a useless argument.

The equivalent would be sharing the same used shitty/cummy tissue.

sweeneytoddsrazor · 09/05/2021 17:35

Of course it isn't anything in a face mask you can get from kissing your partner so if you just needed to borrow their face mask to pop into a shop there is nothing in it you haven't already received from a good morning, goodbye, goodnight kiss even without the sex

AndroidsAliensAndWizards · 09/05/2021 17:37

A clean one I'd wear it but one he'd been wearing and it hadn't been washed? No. It's like underpants, I'd punch a pair of clean boxers from the draw if I had none of my own to hand but I wouldn't wear his worn and unwashed pants even if I shared bodily fluids with him.

garlictwist · 09/05/2021 17:38

Have done from time to time. It's probably not the greatest idea admittedly but if you're sharing a bed/house/other stuff then not much different.

MissSingerbrains · 09/05/2021 17:41

This thread is insane! Of course I would use DH’s face mask (clean or not) in an emergency - he’s my husband, we share germs anyway ffs!

EarringsandLipstick · 09/05/2021 17:52

@RoseRedRoseBlue

Yes, clean or otherwise. Really doesn’t bother me, As it is I am still using the same one that has been kicking about in my bag for weeks on a end.
That's both revolting & pointless.

Masks should be washed after each use

IncyWincyGrownUp · 09/05/2021 17:53

No.

EarringsandLipstick · 09/05/2021 17:54

What the hell is the point so?

There's a reason face masks are required. Not observing proper hygiene renders that useless.
