to get fed up with receiving more than the average amount of abuse on the road just because I drive a range rover?

I get the whole environment thing psses some people off but this seems out of proportion with the abuse. I am a considerate driver and really object to the abuse especially when my DC's are in the car and people are swearing. Recently parked car in a supermarket carpark to have someone who lived in a nearby flat on one of the higher floor start shouting that i should get back in my RR and pss off.

an x trail. was between that and the freelander but you get more for your money with the x trail. its a company car so dont have to worry about the repairs.

joke kerala!

SoupDragon · 14/11/2007 13:26

I think that a child being reversed over on their own driveway has more to do with lax safety on the part of the parent than the car being driven.

hifi, Greensleeves, as I said earlier, a vegetarian driving a 4x4 is doing less damage to the environment than a meat eater driving a hybrid fuel vehicle. All to do with farting cows. As far as the environment is concerned, you'd be better off creating low emission bovines or culling the lot of them than worriying about cars.

donnie · 14/11/2007 13:26

well if you drive a range rover around the city then I am afraid you deserve all the abuse you get.
For all the reasons detailed in previous posts, shergar's especially. If you feel slighted, get a different car .

pud1 · 14/11/2007 13:27

i feel that i have taken a bit of a gamble with a nissan but to be honest i was sold by the leather interior and all the gadgets that come with it. i am not the most practical of shoppers

SoupDragon · 14/11/2007 13:30

"you deserve all the abuse you get"

This represents a lot of what is wrong these days. Since when is it OK to verbally abuse people? It's OK to disagree with their choices, it's OK to complain in the proper manner but it is not OK to verbally abuse someone.

donnie · 14/11/2007 13:32

well I disagree. A 4x4 is a form of abuse in itself and a far greater threat than a few cross words.People who drive them around cities because in their own words "they are nice" are asking for trouble.

hifi · 14/11/2007 13:38

well said soupdragon, theres lots of thing i dont agree with but i keep it to myself. as for your comment donnie, how about we go around abusing people who smoke, they do it because its nice but do they get abuse?

donnie · 14/11/2007 13:39

well yes hifi - they get abuse all the time.

SoupDragon · 14/11/2007 13:41

I despise people who are rude and abusive more than those driving 4x4s.

SoupDragon · 14/11/2007 13:42

I've never seen anyone walk up to a smoker and shout abuse at them.

hifi · 14/11/2007 13:43

i have never seen a smoker being abused, if anything its the abuse you get when asking them to divert their smoke.

We dont have a 4x4, dp did want one but when he realised how much petrol he would need to put in he changed his mind pretty quickly (we already spend £60 a week on petrol!)just to add though...a friend of my mums reversed her 4x4 over her sils week old mini................ but if she didnt see a bloody car what hope would she have had seeing a 3 yr old?

donnie · 14/11/2007 13:46

oh dear. Not a Londoner then.

Well maybe the OP should take up smoking and then you'll be happy. But I can assure you she will continue to receive abuse from people who are terrified of her fuck off monster gas guzzling vehicle.

calm down donnie.

SoupDragon · 14/11/2007 13:48

Actually, yes I am, Donnie. Clearly I mix in better circles than you, where verbal abuse is not acceptable though.

Tutter · 14/11/2007 13:49
lanismum · 14/11/2007 13:50

it was quite thick yeah, but she had never done anything like that until she started driving it, I have no idea how you dont see a bright red mini though but she swears she didnt (maybe she just hated her sil)
