Why cant we keep our name??

Just noticed this advert under 'Sponsored' on Facebook. So the website describes itself as an 'Entrepreneurial Women Group' - so why take away our name ? I am so sad - I feel it is taking away our identity. This is not inclusive - because I feel excluded. How has it come to this ?

Why cant we keep our name??

I have no idea how swapping vowels for a random x makes a word more inclusive.
It mxkxs nx sxnsx xt xll

FangsForTheMemory · 26/04/2021 19:59

It's not all about you OP.

BilboBercow · 26/04/2021 20:01

How do you even pronounce womxn? It's a load of shite anyway

BrumBoo · 26/04/2021 20:04

@FangsForTheMemory

It's not all about you OP.
No. It's all about the penis, as always.
SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/04/2021 20:08

Is it real? Because the events say women on tsb website

Womixin is how I read it. No one ever goes after mixin to change their words and spellings
StoneofDestiny · 26/04/2021 20:11

Itx a loxd of cxobbxers and juxt the latext trenxdy crxp

Chanjer · 26/04/2021 20:11

No. It's all about the penis, as always.

It's original usage was to remove man/men from the word woman/women

Come be educated on how being a woman/womxn is a personality trait or thought in your head, rather than a penis of privilege encroaching on women's spaces and career prospects.

This is my understanding too.
DevonTF · 26/04/2021 20:12

SchrodingersImmigrant - this was the image on the sponsored facebook advert. I was confused - as looking at the website it uses the word woman/women - but have clearly chosen this for their ad.

OP posts:
SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/04/2021 20:12

Quick google shows this exact photo with the word woman.

Which page promoted it?

BrumBoo · 26/04/2021 20:13

@Chanjer

No. It's all about the penis, as always.

It's original usage was to remove man/men from the word woman/women

And why is that needed? Everyone used to know what a woman was until recently...
Chanjer · 26/04/2021 20:17

And why is that needed?

Just saying it's a word that preceded the current situation regarding trans issues

Some women were not happy to be referred to as a subset of man

Not defending the word I think women is just fine, just pointing out it's history

indiakulfi · 26/04/2021 20:18

It's ridiculous OP, I don't like it either. It's either for women or it's not, the womxn label is pathetic.

SchrodingersImmigrant · 26/04/2021 20:21

Ah. I think I figured it out. Thought someone was shitstirring on facebook @DevonTF

Looks like tsb calls it women, but the other organisation is using both. Which is just plain dumb imo

That was Womyn, wasn't it? from the 70s.

Womxn is all about the be-penised ones. They can fuck the fuck off.

zigaziga · 26/04/2021 20:23

Are men mxn?

Chanjer · 26/04/2021 20:36

That was Womyn, wasn't it? from the 70s

It's been womxn, womyn, wimmin at various different points since the 70s, ~xn and ~yn both from the 70s I believe, ~min was more recent

Chanjer · 26/04/2021 20:39

Are men mxn?

No that's the whole point

This word has been criticised for being transphobic in the past. I thought MN would be behind it Grin

GaspingGekko · 26/04/2021 20:39

@JosephineBaker Yeah it was womyn that was originally used to get rid of men from the word.

As far as I know womxn is a woke / trans attempt at inclusion (like latinx) however it recently started to be mocked a lot online and transwomen started to say that it excluded them because the word women should automatically include transwomen. And suddenly the woke are backtracking and trying to claim that womxn is a radfem invention.

HowManyToes · 26/04/2021 20:40

Here in Glasgow it’s always been wimmin 😂 singular is wummin

Propagandalf · 26/04/2021 20:42

@zigaziga

Are men mxn?
There was a Britpop band back in the mid 1990s called Menswear. 2 of their hits were "Daydreamer" and "Stardust".

Because everything needs to be politicised these days, they have renamed themselves to Mxnswear.

:-D

Chanjer · 26/04/2021 20:43

And suddenly the woke are backtracking and trying to claim that womxn is a radfem invention.

I'm fully and happily transphobic by modern IDpol definition and I know the word and where it comes from Grin

Is this what it means? I've wondered why there was an x in it.
