I used to buy coloured card for my children to draw on and make things with, now I just use the card in cereal boxes.
-paper- i just save letters for them to use the other side!
We were about to spend god knows how much on more module pots for seedlings, until I saw a video on YouTube where someone uses toilet paper tubes! Genius!
I used to buy lettuce bags and spinach bags for salads. Now I have a long plant pot on the windowsill and I havent needed to buy any for 2 years. So easy and grows all year round, same with spring onions!

Things I never missed once I stopped buying it
-foil
-cling film
-baking paper
-kitchen paper
-craft items from hobbycraft or poundland. I save so much money from making things with the kids instead of buying it all. I would never do that now! And the craft time we spend making the craft supplies is so much more fun than the actual activity we end up doing

has anyone got any more?

JeanneFrench · 23/04/2021 21:07

I guess if you use a mooncup or Thinx style underwear or go through the menopause then you don't need tampons or sanitary towels anymore.

Sanpro since I got washable pads. Kitchen roll since I got some washable equivalent.

Ariannah · 23/04/2021 21:11

We enjoy gardening and we use loo roll tubes to start seeds, they’re perfect! We also cut up milk cartons to make plant labels. And we grow flowers from seed so we don’t have to buy bedding plants. We also do plant swaps on Facebook.

I never use it. What am I missing out on?

Blue5238 · 23/04/2021 21:12

Intrigued to know what you use instead of baking paper... I use it to stop bread sticking to the pot I cooked it in. I reuse 10-15 times per piece but can't imagine doing without.
Likewise foil for over roasts like slow cooked lamb? We only do a few times a year but what do you use instead?

mildlymiffed · 23/04/2021 21:13

Makeup wipes. I now have lovely washable pads. Can't believe I used wipes which are so terrible for the environment 😔

MorganSeventh · 23/04/2021 21:13

Video tapes. Or indeed, audio tapes. Used to buy them in a 5 pack from Argos.

SavingsQuestions · 23/04/2021 21:14

Ooh indoor lettuce and spinach? HOw much space does it take up? Do you keep resowing? Is it hard?

I gave up ironing..

Woodlandbelle · 23/04/2021 21:14

I am trying to cut down on waste but I haven't quite got there yet Confused

But I use bars of soap so less shower gel
I have lumea cutting down on razors/veet

Pancakes - now make my own
Fancy mayonnaise. I add a teaspoon of cajun spice or sweet chilli into normal mayo.

Laggartha · 23/04/2021 21:14

A lot of people don’t roast meat or bake bread @Blue5238

booksandnooks · 23/04/2021 21:15

@JeanneFrench
I just use ice cream tubs, the oval ones with a good click
whatever needs going in the fridge goes in kne of those instead if putting foil or clingfilm over the plate.
and I just grease tins with butter or oil instead of using baking paper, doesn't really make a difference
