Anyone else’s period all over the place lately?

I’ve always been like clockwork but the last three months I just don’t know what’s going on. I skipped a period which has never happened before, this month I’m just having spotting. What has prompted me to ask here is my sister said she is in a WhatsApp group with 14 other women who she used to go to Pilates with and 3/4 of them said their cycles are all over the place too. Then my next door neighbour who is post menopausal said she had a bleed for the first time in almost 4 years! So I was curious if any other women have had any irregularities?

My first question would be gave you or any of the people you mentioned had the vaccine?

starpatch · 23/04/2021 20:06

Oxford are doing a study on how the covid crisis has effected womens periods. It seems to be a thing.

Titsywoo · 23/04/2021 20:07

Yes and I have had the vaccine. I do have a fairly irregular period though so I do get weird anomalies once a year or so. Just got my period after 6 weeks and it is very heavy.

DinosaurDiana · 23/04/2021 20:08

Your age is relevant.

upsydaisyssinging · 23/04/2021 20:10

Are all the people in their 40s?

upsydaisyssinging · 23/04/2021 20:10

Mine has been weird but I'm assuming it's because I'm in the run up to the menopause

CastleCrasher · 23/04/2021 20:12

I was literally just speaking to DH about this. I'm as regular as clockwork usually but had a small one day bleed two weeks ago and am currently on my second day of another small bleed. No idea why until I read this thread - I had the vaccine four weeks ago today - is this a thing?

CastleCrasher · 23/04/2021 20:15

Just realised my post might be be confusing. Vaccine 4 weeks ago. Normal period 3 weeks ago. Then random bleed 2 weeks ago. Another now, but period not due until next week

Lesserspottedmama · 23/04/2021 20:16

I’m 32 and have not had the vaccine. Neither has my sister. Next door neighbour had and I don’t know about my sisters friends.

Yes but I haven’t had the vaccine. Wondering whether it’s stress? I had a 45 day cycle last month.

Thatisnotwhatisaid · 23/04/2021 20:33

Should say I’m 28.

8bitgame · 23/04/2021 20:34

Yes but I’m 44 so have been assuming it’s some sort of peri menopause thing

Skyliner001 · 23/04/2021 20:35

Oh gosh yes, completely empathise. Mine has been pretty crazy since I had Covid in February. I was 38 at the time. It's insane.

Skyliner001 · 23/04/2021 20:36

By February, I mean February 2020

AngstyMom · 23/04/2021 20:36

Both COVID send the vaccine can apparently screw up your periods.

bridgetreilly · 23/04/2021 20:37

Since my fortieth birthday 7 years ago, it’s been all over the place. Anywhere from 3 to 16 weeks. So it’s hard to say whether the last few months have been especially unusual.

Mulberry974 · 23/04/2021 20:39

Yup my cycle has been occasionally odd in the last year assume it's stress related. Also had a delayed period just after I had the vaccine. So that could have been anxiety or the vaccine!

ferriswheel20 · 23/04/2021 20:40

I haven't had a period for about 8 months (due to the pill) and randomly got one the other day. I wondered why I wanted to claw everyone's eyes out for about 3 days before!

thenightsky · 23/04/2021 21:09

I'm 60 and on HRT which means I still have a VERY regular period - like so regular I know it will start at lunchtime on a Wednesday. I had my AZ vaccine on Sunday and started Tuesday at 6am. Like that's the first time its ever changed in over 10 years Shock

TheDoctorDances · 23/04/2021 21:14

TTC and I’m normally regular as clockwork when I wake up that morning.

Bugger was a day and a half late, just to give me a bit of false hope and snatch it back.

magicstar1 · 23/04/2021 21:18

I was just telling DH that mine has gone all over the place. A couple of light days, two weeks later another couple, then a few days later etc. It’s doing my head in.

LunaMuffinTop · 23/04/2021 21:23

My period last month was 2 weeks late I had a 50 day cycle which never happens to me and this month I was a week late I had the vaccine at the start of last month as well.

Angel64391 · 23/04/2021 21:27

Yes! For years my periods have been regular as clockwork but since about May last year they’ve just gone all over the place. 33,had COVID in January and also had the vaccine. Change of lifestyle maybe? My lifestyle has slowed down significantly since the lockdowns started last March. I just put it down to that.

Emmelina · 23/04/2021 21:32

They’ve been odd recently, yes! Up until January, they were clockwork. Then mid-cycle I started spotting, then it turned full heavy period. So full cycle was 13 days that month. Then I wasn’t sure when to expect the next, but it arrived 31 days later. Each month has added a day to the cycle - 32 day, 33 day... they seem heavier, too.
