The dinosaur who poo'd

I loved mog books as a child. Whereas my child likes to hear the same story of a dinosaur who poo's. We have the pirate one and a Christmas one. Each involve copious amounts of defecation and gas. He finds it hilarious. If there's no poo involved he doesn't want to know

They are dreadful but appeal to my small boy.

Hardbackwriter · 20/04/2021 19:52

Someone gave us one of these and I hid it. I'm sure DS will go through a stage of thinking poo is the funniest thing ever, but I have no desire to hasten its arrival!

Cannotgarden · 20/04/2021 19:54

My DD hated these books, she cried at the Christmas one!

17bluebirds · 20/04/2021 19:55

It's honestly one of the most revolting books I've ever read.
Unfortunately the pre schoolers where I work love it!

inmyslippers · 20/04/2021 20:03

They really are revolting but I imagine that's the appeal

I've seen these in the library but managed to avoid them. I think I would probably find the content a bit silly but bearable, I can't get on board with pooped though. If it actually was pooed and not pooped I might give them a try!

BathshebaKnickerStickers · 20/04/2021 20:27

Every child in the world loves “Pants”

toffeebutterpopcorn · 20/04/2021 20:27

DS never liked the moomins or the muppets. Odd child...

Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 20/04/2021 20:28

My sister brought one of my sons these when he was little. Horrible disgusting books. He loved them 🤦‍♀️

Dinosaursdontgrowontrees · 20/04/2021 20:30

My son absolutely loves these books.

Mypremiumwhat · 20/04/2021 20:32

Yep we have those. Shit galore. Also have one about a teddy bursting for a wee who tried to piss on/in everything until he finally wins a big cup and pisses in it. Kids go wild for it.

Not to mention the rhyme about mouldy veg and stinky socks in Shake, Rattle and Roar Hmm

Jumpers268 · 20/04/2021 20:32

Mike's 6 and he loves them. It's a bit awkward writing them in his reading log for school, but at least we're reading 🤷🙈😂.

Jumpers268 · 20/04/2021 20:33

*mine's

BlackRibboner · 20/04/2021 20:33

My oldest two adore these. I have a grudging respect for the authors after one of them dedicated one of the books to a rhyming website Grin Quite a refreshing honesty there!

Sirzy · 20/04/2021 20:34

Thankfully DS wasn’t keen. There again we have had to do every David Walliams book at least once but anything that encourages reading/enjoyment of books is good!

Nunyabusiness · 20/04/2021 20:34

It would be criminal not to mention the I Need A New Bum series on this thread

swashbucklecheer · 20/04/2021 20:35

They are revolting and the writing is really poor. Some of the rhymes really don't work. I hate them my ds loves them 😭

Noodledoodledoo · 20/04/2021 20:36

My kids school do a reading session when a parent comes in to read (or did pre covid) I took the princess one and the children loved it. They love it!

CanofCant · 20/04/2021 20:36

Aww, Allan! We love that book.
GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 20/04/2021 20:37

OP, your dc would probably love a book called Poo In The Zoo.
It’s in rhyme (that actually scans!) and is funny - my little Gdcs love it.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 20/04/2021 20:45

Janet and John didn't do anything like this in my day... Confused

ElfAndSafetyBored · 20/04/2021 20:46

My dad cried with laughter when he read these books to my son. It was written by the bloke from McFly I think.

Now Dr Dog, that was disgusting.

notforonesecond · 20/04/2021 20:48

Are these the ones written by two of McFly? We’ve managed to avoid them so far but given the popularity of Poo in the Zoo in this house it’s probably only a matter of time.

GlitterBiscuits · 20/04/2021 20:51

Try 'The Little Mole Who Knew It Was None Of His Business'
There's even a pop up version!

Beseigedbykillersquirrels · 20/04/2021 20:51

Dr Dog, is that by Babette Cole, @ElfAndSafetyBored? Her books are dreadfully inappropriate.

I also despise the dinosaur who pooped books. They're not even good stories. They are literally shit stories. Just rely on the kids loving them because they are full of shit. Dreadful. At least they gets kids into books though, as PPs have mentioned.
