Period pants for heavy flow days

AUBI to want this?

I have used non-disposable sanitary wear for about 5vyears now. My periods are just starting up again after giving birth nearly a year ago. But we moved whilst I was pregnant and I swear to you I've lost my knickers!!!!! Can't find them anywhere. I told my mum and she said 'you're STILL doing that?!!!'

Please tell me your brand of period pants that work overnight and on heavy days. I've got an IUD now and I'd say i need to change an overnight Always pad every 4 hours. I don't mind bulky / look etc. I usually wear skirts during period for safety anyway.

I've also lost my cheeky wipes pads which are excellent i probably need to change those every 5 hours on heavy days in case anyone is interested in that nugget of info!

Thanks!!!!!

@jellyfrizz thank you for the recommendation! I’ve just ordered a pair!

samosamo · 12/04/2021 11:24

Thank you.

I'll try modibodi heavy and see whether this does 7 hours during my next period. My heavy is changing a heavy flow always pad every 3 to 4 hours. Appreciate that might not be heavy for everyone. Ill also try overnight and keep them in an hour after I get up as that's a 'rush moment for me

I'll feed back for those whom it might help!

I did buy flux heavy ones too im just remembering. They are slightly better than cheeky wipes, but there isn't much in it.

My heavy is changing a heavy flow always pad every 3 to 4 hours.

Thanks that clarifies my thinking on what people call heavy.

When I'm at that point I am at my lightest 🙈

EatTheRich · 12/04/2021 17:51

@itsgettingwierd my heavy is flooding through 2 night pads at once every 2 hours for 3 days then it being a bit less heavy. I now use 2-3 pairs of maxi period pants from modibodi every 24 hours. I don't bleed onto my sheets now

You sound like you might have bleeding like me? Absolutely nada for hours and then a sudden heavy flow? Stops and starts?

Although I flood through a tampon and night pad every 10-20 minutes for 2-4 hours for the first 3 days. It just happens solely for those 3-4 hours with very little flow in between.

I'm then heavy for another 7 days and medium for 2. The end is just like someone has turned off a tap Confused

another vote for modinodi

Newq · 12/04/2021 21:16

@samosamo Good point about overnights I did realise that right after I pressed post ha.
I wasn't suggesting you personally were unhygienic sorry if it came across like that. I'm just very new to having an IUD and @itsgettingwierd it's not medical fact as far as I'm aware, it's just having read a few things I'm a little paranoid about having bad bacteria growing up there without me knowing it until I have full blown pelvic inflammatory disease. So looking to minimise risk while being environmentally kind. Anyway please excuse my slight derailment I'll be off to read more about IUDs...

ShatParp · 12/04/2021 21:26

@AfternoonToffee yes Wuka have great coverage up the back so perfect for bed esp if you sleep on your back!

SuddenArborealStop · 12/04/2021 21:27

I've two pairs of modi bodi size 14 Sensual Hi-Waist Bikini Maxi-24hrs Absorbency I don't want, I purchased for the colour (turquoise)and didn't realise they were the heavy duty ones.
I'll send to the first person to ask, one is opened but unworn other not opened. Might take me to the weekend to pos though.

DinosaurDiana · 12/04/2021 21:29

Jumping on at the end here, so sorry if this has already been answered, do any of these period pants have the lining going from the front waistband right under to the back waistband ?
I sleep on my front and back so need both sides covered.

AfternoonToffee · 12/04/2021 22:48

shat Thank you. I seem to go to sleep on my front but end up on my back during the night, which I think is why I always seem to have issues. I'm on the mini-pill yet still get irregular bleeding.

I can PM you about it

No worries. The offer was very kind and I went off to collect ds from swimming and have only just got back and sorted!

This is the question I would love answering too! I am working my way through brands, it may help to know what won’t work for you - this is what I have found so far:

Thinx in all styles except the shorts. None go to the waist band at the front or back.

Bambody, both styles. Neither have a lining to the waist band. The maxi knickers are a little higher at the front than all the others I have tried so far.

On the back on this thread, I have ordered from Wuka and Flowerette and am quietly hopeful.

@Tippytaps yes modi bodi have the gusset all the way from the top to the bottom, the high waisted ones are great for cramps too as they're massive and done cut you in half Blush the 24 hr ones have a massive (but not nappy esque) gusset. No leaks here and I'm heavy

Cadent · 15/04/2021 04:29

I've been meaning to buy some of these expensive brands but I came across the Luna pants in Sainsbury's, on their Tu 20% off sale at £7.50. They've been brilliant for me, and I don't think I will the more expensive ones.

someoneseatenmyapple · 15/04/2021 05:18

How long have you had the IUD in for? If it's a Merina (don't know about other IUDs) your periods should pretty much stop or stop completely after a few months.

They should do, but they might not.

Had the mirena for 4(ish) years, still get a period every month. Super light (especially when compared to copper coil periods) but very much still there.

My Wuka order finally arrived today (ordered 4th Feb). They seem to be an odd shape. Not sure how they'll perform. Slightly worried I've spunked £50+ on rubbish.

UCOforAC12 · 15/04/2021 20:08

I have bought one Modibodi heavy flow one to test out as I've had Cheeky Pants for a couple of years and they're great for days 3-7 but I'm doing a pant change every couple of hours days 1 & 2. Fine while I'm working from home but I'd love to go exclusively to pants including on days 1 & 2 when I do return to the office. Also overnight on days 1 & 2 I need to change a super plus tampon and Cheeky Pants so if Modibodi work overnight I'd be delighted!

Thank you! Flowers I’ve ordered the hi-waist bikini!

SuddenArborealStop · 16/04/2021 09:32

Oh I've a referral link for modibodi I just remembered if anyone wants is 15 euro off PM me

Samosamo · 06/07/2021 12:54

Hi all!!!

So to update, I very gratefully used the modibodi sensual hi waist 24 hour ones. They are very good. They did leak after 4 hours on my heaviest day, but I think the vaccine has made me heavier than before so they are not as good as the max flow wuka. But they're still very good for the near heaviest flow day.

So still a good buy.

I see cheeky wipes have a 3 for 2 on their heaviest ones so at £16 each, I might try those. Then I'll let you know, too xx

My DD adores her WUKA heavy flow - swears by them overnight or for a full day at school. I really couldn't recommend Modi Bodi - I spent quite a lot of money on a range of them when DD started her periods and none of them were fit for purpose, she just seemed to bleed straight through them!
