Period pants for heavy flow days

AUBI to want this?

I have used non-disposable sanitary wear for about 5vyears now. My periods are just starting up again after giving birth nearly a year ago. But we moved whilst I was pregnant and I swear to you I've lost my knickers!!!!! Can't find them anywhere. I told my mum and she said 'you're STILL doing that?!!!'

Please tell me your brand of period pants that work overnight and on heavy days. I've got an IUD now and I'd say i need to change an overnight Always pad every 4 hours. I don't mind bulky / look etc. I usually wear skirts during period for safety anyway.

I've also lost my cheeky wipes pads which are excellent i probably need to change those every 5 hours on heavy days in case anyone is interested in that nugget of info!

Thanks!!!!!

Dd and I love cheeky wipes pants and pads. I wear a pad and the pants on heavy days.

Mynotsoperfectlittlefamily · 11/04/2021 17:57

I've ordered the Cheeky Wipes Feeling Confident ones. Not tested them yet as only recently gave birth but they feel very covering and protective. I will most likely order more. I've got a code for 15% if you want it

@NamechangerSince2010

Word of warning on the Wuka ones, I ordered some on 4th Feb and am STILL WAITING for them.

They might be great, but I wouldn't know.

But, thanks to this thread for reminding me so I can hassle them.

(Disclaimer: I think their other styles are all available, just not the one that I ordered 🙄. I'm really grumpy about it)

I had issues with delivery too. They swore they'd posted them and they hadn't arrived. Had me wait a further week to see if they turned up, they didn't. They "resent" and those ones arrived. The tracking code supplied for the original order said Royal Mail had never actually received them. I wouldn't order again as I don't trust them to behave honestly, which is a shame because the product's brilliant!

I used to have extremely heavy periods & Thinx were fantastic for overnight & daytime. I had several different styles & they were all as good as each other. In terms of size, you should size down if you are between sizes. This is one type of knickers that you need a properly snug fit.

WoolieLiberal · 11/04/2021 20:01

As someone who was desensitised to absorbent undies by being a bed wetter whose laid back parents let
Her wear nappies to bed as a kid, I’ve never had a problem wearing absorbent pants for heavy periods and can recommend the Always ones.

Newq · 11/04/2021 20:08

Sorry no recommendation on period pants I don't get it. Reusable crotch bits and sanitary cups all the way though. Happy to have my mind changed, but, @samosamo my question is with an IUD, which I have recently got, aren't you supposed to be extra careful with the hygiene so not leave a pad/pants on for more than say 4-6 hours, ruling out the wearing of a pair of period pants all day?

Thank you , that's really helpful. These ones I have just don't feel snug, I don't want a bikini style and currently have more of a full brief, I might try more like a short style.

With the ones I have a 10/12 probably would have been too small, but the 14/16 seems just a little too big.

Never heard of that extra bit.

Not sure how period pants are unhygienic? And, how is that possible at night?

I bathe twice a day when on the old menses so I feel ok about it...

Its funny, I actually don't use a moon cup because I feel its not hygienic, or rather, probe to exposure when you empty it. Feel like its up there too long time a time for something that is not sterile to begin with!

I have just ordered a couple of Flux pairs from Holland and Barratt. They are currently 25% off and there is a code for another 15% off if you order before midnight (Sunday). I've got two pairs for about £35.

They are bikini but they still look quite full. I want some cheeky wipes ones for night but they are out of stock at the moment,

ThuggeryAffair · 11/04/2021 22:08

Blinx are great for me and have a 4 for 3 offer which works out great value. I'm very heavy so I use them with a mooncup but they give great peace of mind and mean I can go overnight without flooding.

Blueberrybonus · 11/04/2021 22:14

Does mooncup work on very heavy periods? I’m thinking of getting modi bodi but even if they can prevent leaks(which I seriously doubt as my periods are incredibly heavy) then i would feel like I need to check all the time. Anyway, do noon cup work on really heavy flow with massive clots etc?

QuentinWinters · 11/04/2021 22:16

Moon cups work but sometimes if you get a big clot they will suddenly leak
op I use WUKA and they never leak but I went for a long walk the other week on a heavy period and got chafing Blush I prefer cup for heavy days and the pants over night/lighter days

Hankunamatata · 11/04/2021 23:13

@Blueberrybonus mooncups dont work great for me by themselves with heavy periods. During bad day I would have to empty two hourly or wear reusable pad too. At night when heavy mooncup seems to allow more steady overflow if that makes sense o to pad.

HeyBigBrenda · 11/04/2021 23:18

I like Modibodi maxi/24hr. Tried the heavy flow/night time ones and leaked through after

EatTheRich · 11/04/2021 23:22

@samosamo modibodi 24 hour pants are the best. They don't leak at all, I've got from using 2 x pads at a time 4 boxes per period to just using modibodi, I don't leave them on for 24 hours though that's grim

ShatParp · 11/04/2021 23:30

I use Wuka for really heavy flow esp overnight as the coverage is better, and Modibodi for regular flow and daytime as they feel nicer on.

Can anyone else not stand putting them back on when they feel damp (sorry TMI) after going to the loo?! I must admit I tend to change them like I would sanitary towels! I've tried blotting them with loo roll obvs but it doesn't work! Am I the only one?!

Do the Wuka go quite high at the back for nighttime? That is always where I have issues and I get leakage up towards the waistband of my trousers.
motherofawhirlwind · 11/04/2021 23:41

My DD uses Floweret (were Tulip) and has very heavy flow - she's on transenamic acid now but never leaked in these. The absorbant bit goes all the way up to the waist band and right across at the back which helps. They recently changed their designs so they're 2 inches taller from crotch to waistband as well. Comfy enough to wear every day (which she does, just in case as her cycles are all over the place).

I didn't know this.

I had a coil fitted in January and have worn innersy pants from Amazon everyday since as I spot irregularly.

These are ones not designed to be worn alone but were cheap at £15 for 3 pairs and great for light spotting.

itsgettingwierd · 12/04/2021 08:49

For those who say they wear the for heavy - how heavy are you?

My heavy is flooding a tampon and night pad in 7-20 minutes continuously for 2-3 hours.

Ill then not bleed for 12-36 hours and then do this again for 2-3 hours.

The pants for me mean I can go about my day and it catches the light blood as the bleeding restarts and I can get to loo to layer up. Because I cannot wear a tampon all the time because I genuinely don't have any flow for those periods in between the flooding.

But I just really don't think even the maxi pants would hold my bleeding at the level I bleed as a stand alone item of Sanpro? It says it holds 5 tampons worth. That would last me an hour or so during heavy time?

I have considered a moon up but our toilets at work are cubicles and sinks are outside that so I wouldn't be able to change it at work. Plus I'm also worried how much/long one would last with such heavy bleeding?

bobisbored · 12/04/2021 08:51

I have Modibody and I love them. They are expensive though. I bought a pair from cheeky wipes to see what they were like, they're half the price. I didn't like the fabric. The Modibody ones are cotton and feel like normal knickers. The cheeky wipes ones are like swimming costume material and I felt very sweaty 🤦🏽‍♀️

Madickenxx · 12/04/2021 08:57

I have really heavy periods and used to sleep with double pads, long PJ bottoms and a towel and still have to change every 3-4 hours on my worst day. I now wear Flux (for heavy periods) and while I still wear a pad overnight on my heaviest day, they've been brilliant. I'd thoroughly recommend them. They've been life changing for me - I used to have to work from home during my heavy days as I simply wouldn't get through a commute. I can't use a moon cup as it just slides out when it "floods" so my Flux undies have saved my sanity and my ability to get to work!Smile

BagLadyy · 12/04/2021 09:29

I have ModiBodi and some Cheeky ones.

And I prefer the Cheeky ones which were less than half the price!

Wheelsonthebusagian · 12/04/2021 10:56

Another one for Modibodi. I bought the maxi-24 hour ones as I have a really heavy flow for the first two days of my period. They are amazing, no leaks, are comfortable and stay dry. They are not cheap but are definitely worth the investment.
