AIBU?

To use baby oil as lube?

Happinesscomesfromwithin · 07/04/2021 23:11

Just that really.

We used to use coconut oil but then read online that it kills sperm, and that baby oil doesn't and is sperm friendly (we are TTC).

Any experiences with it?

Can't you just use actual lube?

You can buy lube in the supermarket now, so why not use that?

You will give yourself terrible thrush if you use a non water soluble lube such as baby oil.

Buy the baby oil gel - normal baby oil just washes away and the gel is much cheaper than lube

Please do not use baby oil. You'll be so irritated!

I don't understand why you just wouldn't use normal lube?
Baby oil is highly scented and may give you thrush.

If you are TTC do not use normal lube as it can kill sperm. Use a fertility lubricant such as pre-seed

Baby oil will do terrible things to your bits. Just don't.

Definitely use something like preseed. It is sperm friendly and will help TTC.

Thanks ladies... Not using it directly up my hoohah but we use lube in foreplay - we live abroad and it's near to impossible to find lube anywhere, hence me asking about baby oil

Baby oil isn't good for sperm.

Use Conceive Plus or Preseed

Don't use baby oil, it's not good for internal health.

I gave the same issues with lube and researched alternatives.
The only oil recommended for internal use is jojoba oil. Make sure it's in date and put it in a pump dispenser bottle so you don't contaminate it.

It's fab, nutritious, natural and not full of nasties. Downside is it's expensive for a good one but it lasts for ages.

@Happinesscomesfromwithin

Is jojoba oil sperm friendly?

Yes, much better than synthetic lubes.

If you’re serious about TTC, do you even really need it, you know, at your age?! Grin

We avoided using any apart from that which naturally occurred when we were TTC. Maybe we should have done as needed IVF in the end!
