I’ve noticed this afternoon that our neighbours have put this delightful stuff up in the gardening their side. It looks awful. Especially only on the two fence panels when there is about 10 in total.

We don’t get on at all with them, at all. But today I dislike them a little more for doing this.

Are they using your dryer?

StillRunningWithScissors · 07/04/2021 15:51

Sorry, cross posted there.

Not very attractive looking, are they trying to blame co something from view/gain privacy?

BuckysArm · 07/04/2021 15:52

Maybe they haven’t finished yet? It doesn’t look great but more privacy for you too!

burritofan · 07/04/2021 15:52

Is it your fence or theirs?

twolipstulip · 07/04/2021 15:52

@HarryElephante

Are they using your dryer?

DinosaurDiana · 07/04/2021 15:52

What are they trying to hide on their side ?

MadeForThis · 07/04/2021 15:53

Have you been peeping over the fence? 😂

Chocolateismakingmefat · 07/04/2021 15:53

Wind will have that smashed soon anyway op!!

SunIsComing · 07/04/2021 15:54

Wtf!

DesperateDannyBoy · 07/04/2021 15:54

I can’t see what they’d be blocking, our garden is just grass at the back for our dogs. Small patio with chairs. We don’t get on so I assume it’s privacy as our garden is levelled (theirs is too but slightly lower). But only the dogs really ever go up the back and DP once a day to collect dog poo.

It’s the left fence? Have go no idea what is ‘ours’ we replaced all the panels when we moved in

TheNestedIf · 07/04/2021 15:56

Do the dogs bark if they see them out there, maybe?

DesperateDannyBoy · 07/04/2021 15:56

@Chocolateismakingmefat

I’m actually worried it’s not secured properly as then it’ll be an argument about replacing the panels! And we’ll have to listen to it banging up the fence day and night!

If you want to make a fuss, it’s probably not allowed, as would count as a fence and there’s a height limit for those in most places (of 6 ft or thereabouts). You could complain to the council.

littleredberries · 07/04/2021 15:56

Looks like bamboo. For added privacy?

MustStayStrong01 · 07/04/2021 15:57

Weird. Just grow something up your side.
Why don't you get on?

DesperateDannyBoy · 07/04/2021 15:58

@TheNestedIf

No, they also have a dog and ours and theirs do not get along. There are two places lower down where they’ve bitten at the fence and both houses have had to cover it with old slabs/thick wood. They don’t tell the dog off so although I do correct mine, it will unfortunately never change as they see it as their dog ‘just saying hi’ (one of many many issues’.

But no, don’t bark at people and the problem areas for the dogs are at the bottom of the fences much closer to the house.

DesperateDannyBoy · 07/04/2021 16:00

It’s not bamboo, it’s just like cheap wooden sticks. I don’t actually want to cause a fuss as at least it’ll stop the pigeons sitting on the fence and shitting down it all day. But I’d of liked to of been asked. They seem to of only done the two so I’m assuming that’s it, which obviously looks even shitter as it’s not all the way down.

RuggeryBuggery · 07/04/2021 16:00

Doesn’t look very nice from your side
I think to make it look nice you’d have to put the same up

RuggeryBuggery · 07/04/2021 16:01

But they’re within their rights unfortunately- afaik

DesperateDannyBoy · 07/04/2021 16:05

@MustStayStrong01 - many, many reasons. We’re just not really compatible neighbours 😂

They’re noisy, inconsiderate and royal PITAs. Tv always on super loud, shout at each other all day in the garden, feed the pigeons 3/4 times a day, in denial about their dog (it’s all dogs, they seem to think it’s just ours). I’ve tried to speak to them about the tv volume issues twice, my DP was ill once and the other when I was very ill in pregnancy and when I had a newborn. This resulted in very loud threats through the house and cornering my MIL in the local M&S telling her we’d been threatening their mum (the home owner).

I think if your garden is higher than theirs it's understandable if they want privacy.
My neighbour levelled their garden which was horrible as their heads were high above the fence so they could look down into my garden.
I put something up so they couldn't see.

Outbutnotoutout · 07/04/2021 16:07

If its your fence

I.e. you paid for it, tell them to take it down
