Dh and his builders bum

Whymrsrobinson · 06/04/2021 02:51

He’s not a builder, but wears his jeans loose so whenever he bends over or gets up from the sofa it’s there. I find it awful and am concerned that dd 15 and ds 13 have to see it too. Tonight he was getting stuff out the oven and it right put me off me tea! I have mentioned it delicately ( I hope) saying not great for dd to see, but he just pulls an offended or grumpy face. Aibu to ask him to cover up? Or should I live and let live?

Sorry, but 😂. Buy him a belt. Or braces. Or both.

If I can see my husband's builder's bum, it's fair game for trying to aim peas / ice cubes / Lego / glitter down it. Those are the rules.

@RefuseTheLies I like this, I think I will try this at home 😎

Are you a Jane Austen character coming over all faint and unable to eat at the sight of a bit of bumcrack? 😂

I jest (ish) - just buy him a belt or some better fitting jeans and hope he wants to wear them OP!

YES I hate seeing a builders bum, and especially if they have a paunch as well.,and the bums are usually white, and not even a hint of a tan !!

He's really ok with his children seeing the crack of his arse? Grim.

I'm more concerned for the builder who is going about his business without his bum.
How did DP get this bum?
Did he steal the bum?
Was the bum lent to him?
Did DP find the bum in a skip?
What's happened to DP's own bum?
Has DP now got two bums?
So many questions...

Live and let live.
There's worse things to worry about in the world.

I’m more concerned that he is wearing jeans in the evening. They’re practically formal wear. He may as well be wearing a morning suit.

YANBU to have dignity. Ask him why he wants to follow the example of prisoners in the US.

Higher pants? This is my technique.

If I see dh's he gets a finger or pencil down it.

Your own husbands body put you off your tea?

Really grim.

I can only imagine what your daughter's must think.

His attitude is as unattractive as the sight.

Really grim.

Chill. Not everything is a hill to die on. I'd be winding him up about it but it's not a thing for A Serious Conversation. Your kids won't be traumatised by this

Yo I've seen two posters fret about the impact on daughter whilst ignoring potential impact on son. Girls aren't delicate they can handle their embarrassing dad's builders bum. Worst they'll do is the "OMG DAD PUT IT AWAY" heck maybe their embarrassment will put him to shame and he'll stop!

Just get him some dungarees!

If the kids are teenagers they'll probably soon say something more cutting and shaming to him about it than you could ever dream of.

Best to have a DP whose arse you enjoy seeing IMO.

Is it because he’s got a beer belly at the front pushing his trousers down all round?

Perhaps some healthy eating wouldn’t go amiss, as a good example to dc obviously.

They won’t be upset as he’s a guy, just mortified.

Presumably he wears jeans during the day when out and about: bending over in shops to reach something in the bottom shelf; bending down to pick something up he’s dropped. Poor passers by. Sad

Why is it ok to tell him he can't walk around like that but if your daughters were walking around half dressed it's wrong(according to mn) & oppressive to tell them to put clothes on?

That's irrelevant to this conversation and baiting. Mn isn't a monolith.

Next birthday present from your children to him could be brightly coloured braces perhaps?
