I read it as vaccinations. Until I saw a PP say vacation Blush.

whenthebellsring · 31/03/2021 21:44

@WeMarchOn

My new slogan should be "Make Mumsnet great again"
Steady...we don't want the MMGA hat war.

Let's finish with 1984 first.

PuppyMonkey · 31/03/2021 21:54

YABU.Angry

The accepted term on MN is holibobs, surely.

@minou123 I nearly jumped off the couch yelling ‘house’ when I read 1984! Grin well played.

I'm pleased others are joining in on my "Dictator Bingo" game. It's quite fun.

Although I'm still sore that i didn't have China on my card.

Mandatory vacations? Sounds good to me. Can they force us by paying for it too Grin

Lweji · 01/04/2021 05:10

@orangecinnamon

Cancel the cheque!
But then you have to cancel your mandatory vacation. YABU

What if you've been on vacation and returned sick? Should you go on another one? Are you exempt from the next?
(Just joking - you should have a compensatory extra vacation, of course)

Mummabear89 · 01/04/2021 05:14

But I don't want to have a vacation nor can I afford one yet 😂

expatinspain · 01/04/2021 07:51

That's a bit scary that we all read it wrong the first time. Shows where are brains are at the moment!! I spent years working as a proofreader and I'm an English language teacher and I had to read it THREE times!!!

expatinspain · 01/04/2021 07:52

*our

Toooldforthisshit49 · 01/04/2021 08:08

😂😂😂 Definitely!

EggyPegg · 01/04/2021 08:14

Oh my god, that took me longer than it should have done.

We skim read and it just goes to show how we've been conditioned.

Pumpkyumpkyumpkin · 01/04/2021 08:28

I had to read it 3 times to get it Blush

sashh · 01/04/2021 08:44

Dear everyone. This is what dyslexia is like, you think you have read something but you have actually read something else.

JustSleepAlready · 01/04/2021 09:21

Totally agree op.

Intelligent ladies of MN - READ LADIES , READ!!!!!!!

whenthebellsring · 01/04/2021 09:39

That's a bit scary that we all read it wrong the first time

Oh no we didn't. Some of us read it right and was wondering wtf at the comments talking about vaccines.Smile

Fair enough, it did make me wonder if I'd missed something - a hidden code of some sort - about vaccines so had to re-read till I saw OP's first (now famous phrase) READ IT AGAIN. 😆

In my case, it goes to show groupthink can confuse people and make them think they're wrong when it's the opposite.

It's pretty much been a political campaign for RTFT.

RTFT or at least get the gist before you spout Halo

This thread wouldn't have been quite as entertaining though, KCB
DaddyJohn1964 · 01/04/2021 11:41

I think this comes down to "rights vs responsibilities". We have the right NOT to be vaccinated but with that comes the responsibility to ensure that we act in a safe and responsible way and ACCEPT THE CONSEQUENCES.
I would support a "Vaccine Passport" for foreign travel and for access into large groups of people (including pubs and restaurants at the owners discretion) - at least until the Covid risk has dropped to the same level as seasonal flu and is properly contained.

Unfortunately the behaviour of some people - as witnessed in the parks of Nottingham over the past few warm days - would suggest that, for the time being at least, some freedom of choice needs to be sacrificed at the alter of public health.

WeMarchOn · 01/04/2021 11:43

@DaddyJohn1964 have a day off mate 😂😂
