Then don't have one. You can shop online via the website.

FromDespairToHere · 27/03/2021 11:29

Don't use an app then? Personally I love an app!

PandaFluff · 27/03/2021 11:29

You don't have to use the apps

1vandal2 · 27/03/2021 11:30

You can always delete and then redownload them when you want to use it no big deal.

Mrsjayy · 27/03/2021 11:33

I only have a bank app which I use for bills I don't even have just eat. Delete them all and just go through the websites apps drive me insane.

toomuchfaster · 27/03/2021 11:39

I'm with you OP. My phone can't cope with any more apps, I have to delete some for others to work! Carrying a card is much easier IMO.

BarbaraofSeville · 27/03/2021 11:41

I don't mind apps. I have quite a cheap and basic phone, but it copes with the dozens of apps on it perfectly well. Seems a bit 'cut your nose off to spite your face' TBH.

VettiyaIruken · 27/03/2021 11:43

They're optional.

LimaFoxtrotCharlie · 27/03/2021 11:44

I don’t like apps, don’t see the point. So I use websites instead

redcandlelight · 27/03/2021 11:45

@VettiyaIruken

They're optional.
not always. school for example. and the councils fix-my-street only accepts requests via their app. and work as well. not optional unless I want to quit.

I hate how so many of the supermarkets are doing app only instead of cards. I don't want my phone clogged up with numerous apps just so I can gain 0.001p in loyalty points.

Sparklesocks · 27/03/2021 11:46

I don’t have any shopping ones, I just use the browser and log in. Same for fix my street and my utilities. The only apps similar to that I’ve found really useful are online banking and RightMove.

Mrsjayy · 27/03/2021 11:58

This sounds a complete pain in the rear.

Mintjulia · 27/03/2021 12:04

I stick to some basic rules. Work apps go on a work phone only.

Outside work, I only use apps that I want and benefit me. So no to shopping apps, Tesco apps, etc. There's always a web version I can access from my laptop if necessary, and I clear cookies every day.

Binglebong · 27/03/2021 12:06

I'm completely with you. And so many of them won't work on external storage so it uses up the limited space on my phone. Drives me up the wall!

I saw an ad recently that basically said "don't bother with a website - just use an app". Seriously, who would download an app to see if a company they have never used and has no web presence would be suitable for X?!

reluctantbrit · 27/03/2021 12:10

I don't like shopping with an app, I prefer a larger screen than an ipad to browse.

But information ones, news sites, weather, transport, all these work a lot faster and are easier on the move than loading a website on a mobile.

WhenISnappedAndFarted · 27/03/2021 12:11

You don't have to use the apps - you can still shop on most websites without an app.

mogloveseggs · 27/03/2021 12:14

Some apps work well I think. School Jotter which Ds school uses is brilliant. Much better than the seventy billion emails Dd school desnds which you have to then click on a link in to see what they want now

mogloveseggs · 27/03/2021 12:14

Sends Blush

zzzebra · 27/03/2021 12:46

Our maternity services have just moved from a paper file to an app.

No alternative options, the app is horrific and pretty much unusable.

moanieleminx · 27/03/2021 12:49

I hear you!!! My boss is insisting that I have WhatsApp and I am so upset... too many aggressive messages and fights between staff out of hours, not good for my mental health.

ChronicallyCurious · 27/03/2021 13:05

You need need to use apps for shopping. They annoy me so I use web browser for them. I’m not sure what you mean by one app per shop though? Would you like all shops to be available on one app? How would that work?

Airyfairymarybeary · 27/03/2021 13:24

Things change. Resisting change will hinder you in the long run.

FlyingBurrito · 27/03/2021 13:27

Why do you have them? It's not compulsory, if you don't think it's worth it dont do it, I don't see the issue.
grafittiartist · 27/03/2021 15:03

Yep- a bank I have an account with will no longer have even a website- just an app!
That's appalling customer service.
Branch- gone, phone number- gone, website- gone.
They'll lose me too.
