So, i got to the final stage of interviews (3 in total). It all went ahead fairly quickly and efficiently. I felt really positive about it and felt we all got on. Anyway the recruiter told me on Monday that initial feedback is positive but they still have one person to interview at final stage and they'll let me know either way this week. Still nothing tho. I just presume it's a no as otherwise wouldn't they just make me an offer? Feeling deflated as really felt it was positive and didn't expect there even was another candidate

Was meant to say I didn't even get the impression there was another candidate

MaliceOrgan · 25/03/2021 17:10

Why would they make you an offer if they still have people to interview?

Kellymarie237 · 25/03/2021 17:11

As I felt they liked me and the feedback the recruiter said was positive

They are still interviewing. The next person could be a better match than you, or they could be terrible. Not much you can do now but to wait and see.

Kellymarie237 · 25/03/2021 17:13

Thing is they said it's just one other person at last stage which is an hour interview so it's weird it's taking so long

Kellymarie237 · 25/03/2021 17:13

So you wouldn't say it's likely it will be a rejection?

tehre is always tomorrow

Ellpellwood · 25/03/2021 17:15

They could be interviewing the other person right now. Or tomorrow morning.

WitchesBritchesPumpkinPants · 25/03/2021 17:15

It's the most important thing to you right now, but it's not going to be the most important thing to them

Patience grasshopper

ThePlantsitter · 25/03/2021 17:16

Honestly, I would assume a rejection too. It really annoys me that companies are quite happy to take essentially 3 days out of your life and not keep you properly posted.

I do hope I'm wrong and well done for making it that far whatever happens!

safariboot · 25/03/2021 17:16

Well it's still this week.

But in my experience, employers often don't bother to contact applicants they're not hiring at all. There's nothing in it for them.

burritofan · 25/03/2021 17:16

They’re still interviewing the other person or taking their time deciding between two of you. I would chill out and try not to think about it (easier said than done), you can’t second-guess them or make the role yours by stressing about it.

I’d rather wait a bit than, as just happened to me, get a rejection 90 working minutes after the final interview. Felt like I’d barely left the Zoom before they’d gone “God, not HER”.

IndecentFeminist · 25/03/2021 17:17

They will want to talk about it after the interviews, decide and put together an offer.

XenoBitch · 25/03/2021 17:17

They have to interview the person, and then make a decision. These things can take time, especially if the panel is in disagreement as to who to employ.
I know you are worried but speculating will just make you more anxious. You have done your bit (your interview). The rest of it is out of your hands now. Try and distract yourself with something else for now to take your mind off of it all.
I hope you get some good news.

Extrapepperoni · 25/03/2021 17:18

Maybe the interviewer has coronavirus. Maybe they want to offer but HR are being slow on putting the offer together. Who knows, these things take time. Stay positive, it could come good. No point overthinking it till you hear back. If you haven't heard by Wed next week then chase the recruiter by saying you've put other processes on hold as this is your preferred choice but you need to know either way.

EmmaStone · 25/03/2021 17:19

I recently interviewed someone. Our second candidate was far and away the clear 'winner', but we still had to go through the motions of our final interviews. We then had to jump through hoops with the HR department before we could officially offer the role post-interview, which took longer than my boss and I had anticipated. And then my boss went on holiday for 2 days. So hang tight, it's not necessarily bad news. :)

en0la · 25/03/2021 17:21

They could be waiting to see if the other person accepts the job or not and then offer it to you if they don't.

Kellymarie237 · 25/03/2021 17:22

@en0la

They could be waiting to see if the other person accepts the job or not and then offer it to you if they don't.
Good point but wouldn't most people accept it right away especially in the climate nowadays
OP posts:
Ellpellwood · 25/03/2021 17:24

Not if they're already in a job and want to see if their current boss will make an offer. Stop panicking!

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 25/03/2021 17:26

It's only Wednesday - yes it's frustrating waiting to hear but if they told you 'next week' you still have a couple of days to go.

There are a million reasons why you do/don't get a job. There are just as many reasons for someone to turn the job down. Just be patient. No news is good news. They haven't decided yet.

ThePlantsitter · 25/03/2021 17:27

It's Thursday isn't it? I know the days are blending into one this decade so far...

Ellpellwood · 25/03/2021 17:27

It's only Wednesday

Grin

No it isn't.

Sparklesocks · 25/03/2021 17:29

There’s just no way of knowing what’s going on so there’s no point speculating really. And the panel are most likely doing other work alongside the interviews so it’s not as if they’re going to be jumping on the phone the moment the last interview has finished. They could still be interviewing, they may not have all had a chance to meet and discuss their feedback, they may be signing off the salary cap with a higher up, or yes they may have offered it to someone else who is weighing it up or using it as a leverage to drive up their salary with their current employer.

Nobody will have any more insight than you do so try and stay positive until you hear.

ManCubsMama · 25/03/2021 17:32

You are manifesting a rejection!!

MM321 · 25/03/2021 17:35

Agree with everyone else...patience OP!! It could be that the other candidate couldn’t interview until the end of this week due to other commitments or something. Or something could have come up in the business that’s had to take priority over the recruitment for a couple of days. If you haven’t heard by the end of NEXT week I’d say you could contact them and ask if the position has been filled and you could ask for feedback from your interviews. I wouldn’t contact them before that.

I once interviewed for sales advisors for a new store opening. Told all interviews applicants that I would be in contact within 2 weeks wether they had been successful or not and I had one call me twice the following day and another twice before the end of that week asking for updates 🙄😡
