How long did it take you?

I have a total of 7 and a half stone - have lost 3 and a half.

I know it will slow down. But I need some encouragement I think!

OP posts:
Adviceneeded4 · 23/03/2021 17:09

6 and a half stone in 11 months. Good luck and well done with your success so far!

CuriousSeal · 23/03/2021 20:25

I don't, but you're already doing so well OP! Well done and good luck on your journey.

NeverMetANiceOne · 23/03/2021 20:26

5 stone in 7 months, have kept it off with relative ease for 2 years now.

You are doing really well, keep going.

Outbutnotoutout · 23/03/2021 20:29

@Adviceneeded4
@NeverMetANiceOne

How?

aibutohavethisusername · 23/03/2021 20:30

I’ve lost over 3 stone but it has taken over a year.

NeverMetANiceOne · 23/03/2021 20:33

Calorie deficit. I literally weighed all my food, counted every calorie, ate vegetables, reduced carbs and processed sugar, and didn't do any more exercise than walking.
I'm really bloody stubborn sometimes, this time it worked in my favour!

Iworry2021 · 23/03/2021 20:36

I'm losing about 1 kg a week at the moment by doing a calory restricted, high fat low carb diet. I have about 4.5 kg more to lose until I will have a normal BMI again.

I had my son 7 months ago and still trying to lose baby weight.

Iworry2021 · 23/03/2021 20:38

I also cut out all sugar and things like chocolate and biscuits etc.

I eat lots of fatty fish, veggies, nuts, cheese, chicken breast, steak......

Dementedswan · 23/03/2021 20:45

Bloody sertraline... bah felt bad before bit lost a stone on it in 3 weeks. Was a size 10/12 before. I don't recommend it tho!!!

Low fat, low carb, high protein diet.

Breakfast... bacon no fat, tinned Tom's, mushroom

Lunch... omelette

Tea.. chicken/ steak Any until processed meat with veg, mash butternut and small anout of potato.

Snacks.... fat free tzatziki with veg sticks.

HalfShrunkMoreToGo · 23/03/2021 20:45

I've lost 4st 2lb in the last 8 months have 11lb to healthy BMI or 34lb to the 'ideal' weight according to the graphs online.

I use MFP and calorie counting with some exercise, just 3 x 30 mins a week, nothing too intensive.

For those who've successfully hit goal losing 5 or more stone, have you been left with lots of loose skin?

Adviceneeded4 · 23/03/2021 21:35

@Outbutnotoutout Calorie counting (1200-1400) with MFP (weighed everything, only drink water, focused on keeping myself fuller for longer eg. Wholegrain carbs and easy swaps like chicken sausages etc.)

Didn't cut any food group out of my diet.

Saved 200 calories each day to have as chocolate in the evening. Couldn't face months without chocolate and knew I wouldn't stick to it.

Intermittent fasting (eating 12pm-8pm) smallest possible lunch to keep me going and an absolutely massive evening meal. Again couldn't face months of always feeling hungry so would rather be hungry all day but have the full feeling at least once a day.

After the 1st 2 stone did Joe Wicks' live lockdown classes and carried on HIIT after that finished.

Weight came off steadily, without a single gain in 11 months. Been maintaining with ease now for 4 months. Still intermittent fasting but no longer calorie counting. Just keep my carb and protein portions the same.

Good luck everyone.

Outbutnotoutout · 23/03/2021 21:41

@Adviceneeded4

I have a thread on going, I am using MFP and getting no where fast

myfuckingfreezer · 23/03/2021 21:44

4 stone in 6 months but I wish I'd taken it slower and given my body a chance to tone

Adviceneeded4 · 23/03/2021 21:44

@Halfshrunkmoretogo 6 and a half stone. My tummy skin is loose (2 babies as well as the weight) if you pull it but my tummy is flat (no loose folds). I think the exercise really helped (HIIT).

My bum also has some wrinkles but no hanging skin. Essentially the texture isn't amazing but the shape it great, no drooping or overlaps. Not sure I have described that well but tried my best!

My bingo wings are still there but actually massively improved as I have muscles filling the old space.

Loose skin was a massive fear of mine, honestly thought I would need surgery but I am so happy.

Lemons1571 · 23/03/2021 21:46

I’ve lost 5 stone in 6.5 months. The rate of loss has really slowed down now so it’s harder to stay motivated. I probably have loose skin, but tbh my stomach is such a mess after all the pregnancies and separated stomach muscles that I don’t think it could look any worse Grin

3.5 stones to go.

fish231 · 23/03/2021 21:51

I've been told I have 8.5 stone too lose! Felt like crying but reading this has given me hope! X

Adviceneeded4 · 23/03/2021 21:56

@Outbutnotoutout Just had a look, sorry it isn't working for you so far. You say your DP does all the cooking, are you 100%sure everything is weighed accurately? E.g. cooked vs dry weight for some carbs can be confusing.

My main belief is if you are in a calorie deficit there is no reason you shouldn't be losing weight. All the different diets (slimming world, low carb, slim fast etc) are just a way to keep yourself in a deficit without getting too hungry and breaking the diet.

However I have suspicions that intermittent fasting is the thing that is really working for me. Not just because I eat less but the effect fasting has on glucose etc.

I hope that you can figure it out.

spaceghetto · 23/03/2021 22:05

3 stone in 9 months. I fo 5k run every other day, ditched bread and only snack in the evenings where i have some chocolaye

Thriwit · 23/03/2021 22:59

I lost about 10 stone over approx 2 years. I’ve maintained it for about 2.5 years now.
And yup, I have loose skin, a fair bit of it. Although less than I’ve seen other people with similar loss - mine is mainly my stomach & breasts, and inner thighs.

justjuggling · 23/03/2021 23:44

6 stone in just over a year. Lots of loose skin!

FireflyRainbow · 23/03/2021 23:47

Love threads like this. Very inspiring. I need to loose weight but have no motivation. Stuck in a rut.

Cherryblossom7 · 24/03/2021 00:02

How did people who have lost a lot manage to avoid binge-eating?

I've got five stone to lose and I have binge-eating issues so barely manage a week without a binge.

myBumJuiceSmellsLikeRoses · 24/03/2021 09:15

6 stone in about 15 months.

@Cherryblossom7 it was all about current mindset for me, the time was right and my head was in the right place. I can't really tell you what was different, it just was.

Blackdog19 · 24/03/2021 09:18

Out of interest what age range are people in? Is it harder to lose weight as you get older?

myBumJuiceSmellsLikeRoses · 24/03/2021 09:22

My loss was between 38-40
