How long did it take you?

I have a total of 7 and a half stone - have lost 3 and a half.

I know it will slow down. But I need some encouragement I think!

I lost 3 stone in 5 months 2 years ago and have kept it off. Like a pp said I stuck to a calorie count of 12-1400 a day and weighed everything I ate so I couldn’t lie to myself. I also went to the gym to “earn” more calories.

MrsGulDukat · 24/03/2021 16:11

How are people managing to lose the weight?

I cut out processed sugar and reduced my carb intake 3 weeks ago but havent lost 1 pound yet.

I cut out all the crap and only eat healthy and I stuck to the right amount of calories a day.

I do fitness boxing and toning exercises but my weight wont shift. I'm starting to lose steam with it now.

Iampicklerick · 24/03/2021 16:20

Mine was calorie control but it always is. I find it works for me because I am not a “little bit of something you like” person. I am a everything of what you like person. So I weigh everything and track it all. When I don’t it immediately creeps back on. In fact lockdown has been easier because what is in my house is far less appealing than restaurants and cafes and bakery’s etc!

3 1/2 stone in 18 months. Don’t sound like a lot but I’m petite so it was end weight. 11.5 stone down to 8 stone.

That was 10 years ago. I’m currently 9 stone and it’s taken me 2 weeks to loose a pound- the last stone always takes ageeeeesssss!

PatsyStone39 · 24/03/2021 16:58

6 stone in 2 years. It took so long due to me having pcos, not lack of effort. In fact, I had to put in double the work to even get it to shift.

I've kept it off for 9 years.

When you calculate the calories are you giving yourself an allowance for the exercise? If you are, stop doing that. People tend to massively overestimate calories used by exercise. Don’t count the exercise at all, that’s for fitness, not weight loss.

I calculate my calories based on no excercise at all to allow for days I dont excercise.

@PatsyStone39 that's particularly amazing! Losing it, and keeping it off for that long- really impressive.

Flaunch · 24/03/2021 19:21

Lost 4 stone in 5 months 4 years ago. Kept it off with no issues for a couple of years then went on sertraline and stopped giving a shit. Put 3 back on over 18 months. Decided at Christmas to try and shift it again but literally wasn’t losing an ounce! I’ve stopped the sertraline and it’s finally moving in the right direction so I guess it’s either mental or physical health, not both.

WeeWillyWanky · 24/03/2021 19:47

8 stone in just under a year.

LibbyL92 · 24/03/2021 20:20

I’ve lost 2 stone since January by doing a low carb, high fat diet.

I now weigh 11st 11lbs :)

picklemewalnuts · 24/03/2021 20:36

@LibbyL92 word of warning- it's really hard to manage when you reintroduce carbs. Stay with LCHF, and then very gradually add in small amounts of specific carbs to see how it reacts. Don't have a week off for a holiday, or similar. I had a weekend off for a wedding. I just couldn't stop eating afterwards, though. Carb fest. Never got back on the wagon.

NeedaLittleNap · 24/03/2021 20:47

@Flaunch oh no don't tell me that! I've just stopped my sertraline too and I'm really hoping that will help. I do think I'm less ravenous but must admit it hasn't translated to the scales yet.

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 24/03/2021 20:52

I have five stone to lose. I just keep losing and regaining the same 7lbs. It’s getting very depressing.

ginislife · 24/03/2021 21:05

4.5 stone. 3 months.

MojoJojo71 · 24/03/2021 21:10

I lost 3 and a half stone using my fitness pal. Took a year but wasn’t really that hard. Didn’t feel like I was ‘on a diet’

Unfortunately I fell off the wagon and put 2 stone back on during lockdown but I’ve got mojo back now and have lost 5lb in the last 2 weeks back on mfp

LibbyL92 · 25/03/2021 06:38

@picklemewalnuts I know, I’m approaching my target so will need to re introduce carbs carefully. I’m going to do reading up about it, and hopefully reintroduced and find that balance.
