AIBU to ask for some help planning this?

I've been on mumsnet almost forever, and it's my go-to place for wisdom, help and advice. I don't really have a long time alive, as my cancer treatment has stopped working, so I'm hoping that some of you can help me plan a trip to Anglesey, so that I've seen somewhere that isn't these four walls during my Liverpool Lockdown!

I don't want to go much further afield, as I would feel better being easily accessible to medical care if necessary. The plan is to hire a car with my husband, who'll drive, and stay a night or two in B&Bs, taking in some coastal views and sunsets.

I'd love to trawl antique shops.
I'd like to take the dog, if possible, though this isn't really essential.
Outdoors is good, but I'll have to use a wheelchair for more than short distances.
I like the idea of "hidden gems" in terms of places to visit (who doesn't?) but comfort is good too.
I'll wait for the weather to warm up a bit, so in a few weeks is fine (I hope!).

I don't want to annoy anybody, but I'd like to use this thread for a bit of support and encouragement, and keep bumping it for more ideas and suggestions.so I can make this trip as special as possible. As Anglesey isn't all that far from where I live, I could split the trip into a few parts.

So, can you help? AIBU?

Ahh BOF. You were always such a joy. What shitty news.

Cocolapew · 12/05/2021 13:19

I've never met Bee but we were FB friends for years. The one thing I can say without any doubt is how truly loved she was by her friends.
Deepest sympathy to all those that loved her ❤️

My parents used to take me to a favourite spot in Anglesey in the 1950's. We stayed in Rhosneigr, so many vivid memories. Teaching myself to float on my back in the bay. Collecting snails in the dunes with multicoloured stripey shells. My snail collection escaping in our hotel bedroom and being kindly but firmly relocated to a secluded spot in the hotel's back yard. The beautiful wild flowers, including hearts-ease; which attracted clouds of butterflies and moths.

After my father died we never went back but I hope you have an equally magical time in that very special place.

None of us knows how long we have left. Make the most of every day.

I'm sorry to hear your news. Beaumaris for antiques definitely, I took my parents to Beaumaris years ago and they still talk about what a lovely day we had. MJones a'i Fab Antiques was particularly nice. If antiques are your thing you may also want to visit Drew Pritchard Antiques in Conwy if you're a Salvage Hunter fan. Conwy Castle is lovely, but access might be an issue, I remember lots of stairs. Llandudno is also lovely along the seaside, the architecture always makes me feel like I'm somewhere in France. I hope you have a lovely time.

I'm a dinosaur on here and name changed frequently, but I've loved seeing BitOfFun's posts over the years. Full of wisdom and kindness. She will be sorely missed.

OvaHere · 12/05/2021 13:27

Oh I am so sorry to hear your news BoF. I have seen you around here a fair bit over the years, and lots of that being helping or encouraging other people. So I hope we can do the same for you now.

I don't have much useful advice on Anglesey, as the last time I was there was so long ago I barely remember, but I do remember it being rather lovely around there, and hope you have an absolutely fabulous time and can make use of some of the tips here.

CheeseandGherkins · 12/05/2021 14:03

Love to all her family. I knew her from here and FB (but I haven't been on there for years as I deactivated it) and she was a lovely woman. Such awful, sad news.

Hi all,
Please don't worry about MNers who haven't read the thread, we all know BOF wouldn't have. It's quite gorgeous that people are still wanting to help her to have a lovely time.
In the meantime we'll link to this from the front page and that might mean fewer people posting accidentally. Sending gentlest condolences to all of her many MN friends. x

How awful, so sad.

BoF was so funny and irreverent and kind. I've been here for donkeys years and she was one of the best.

babbaloushka · 12/05/2021 14:27

Rest easy, Bee.

HelenHywater · 12/05/2021 14:39

So sad to hear this. Have been around on MN for many many years (too many). She will be very missed. RIP. Flowers
