This is an article about a peadophile who planned to have baby with a stranger so he could rape the baby.

There's almost no words for how utterly disgusting this is.

The premeditation to harm an innocent chile in such a horrific way is terrifying.

AIBU to think he should be monitored for life to make sure he is never alone with any child and that he should have to tell every woman he meets about his previous offences?

Perhaps people are voting YABU because your question is what should already be happening...

All registered offenders are monitored and the majority are supposed to disclose to those they meet who have children. A 'friend' didnt tell me and whilst he'd never been alone with my DC - this was more luck than judgement. I still had the police come to my door to advise me he'd been caught out and was back at court due to not disclosing to me.

So these safeguards are already in place - they just dont work very well as they rely on the offender who, for obvious reasons, won't necessarily follow them.

This is a truly abhorrent story, though, so I cant imagine anyone would be voting YABU had your question been phrased differently. I hope he is locked up and never let out.

There's no cure for paedophilia. You can " help" them until the cows come home. Its not going to make the slightest bit of difference or do the slightest bit of good. They're wired up wrong.

My DP and I frequently disagree on this subject. She is of the mind that they should be put in prison forever. Removing them from society to stew in a cell for a while might work on the average criminal but these are mentally sick people who will never really be mended.

I would personally pull the gallows lever / swing the headsman axe. There I said it.

It is all well and good having a kink but when your kink extends to someone who cannot consent and indulging yourself will literally harm them physically and mentally for pretty much the resdt of their lives then we have a massive problem.

I wouldn't be worried about the chemical aspect to be honest. Castration might reduce the risk of further offences but having gone off and googled it after reading this thread I found this:

So the risk is not eliminated. I don't believe men with this pattern off offending can be rehabilitated so lifelong detention does seem the only way. I can't pretend I don't feel resentful about the cost of that solution but children deserve to be protected from predators.

For the first offence he should have been in Rampton/Broadmoor indefinitely, because if that isn't 'criminally insane' then I don't know what is.

FOJN I've seen it used irl with an acquaintance and his friends. Not for sex offences but for violent offenders. The anecdotal difference I've seen is remarkable.
They can't get aroused or erect but as you indicated it doesn't stop all abuse.
I'm of the opinion it's an underused tool that could reduce offending.
We can't kill or maim them by physical castration so let's use our next best option!
I'm ok with the human rights of the offender being breached, perfectly ok with that and the teeny tiny percentage that could be a mistake. It's not a perfect or permanent fix but I'd be happy with the frisson of sexual excitement being removed.

They are predators, sick minded deplorable people who will go to great lengths for their fix.
