Can big pay differences in a relationship work?

Been with boyfriend 2 years.
He has got a new job and is on £300 a day and works away a lot. But he has always been on a good wage before this.
My wage varies but on average around £300 a week, on a good week i make £500.
With covid, my business has slowed down a lot and I am scraping £200-250 a week;

I've just suddenly become anxious tonight that he earns in a day what i make in a week; we're 26 and i feel worried he'll grow to find my pay a turnoff compared to his.

At your stage In life I think it does matter a bit.

After children it’s very usual for one partner to step back a bit to be at home more. Or if one if you is studying. But if you don’t have children and aren’t studying, yes I can see why the inequality might bother you. It would have troubled me.

You would not be wrong not to be concerned. But given you are plainly a bit bothered by it, I’d really seek out ways to increase your earning potential.

Covid has hit people hard, so it’s not easy. If this is a temporary blip, then I’d not worry too much. But, to be honest, I’d not resign yourself to earning £13,000 pa at your stage of life. It will seriously limit your opportunities in the future. And might cause resentment/problems in your relationship.
