To think this is ridiculous

Why would anyone want to buy this? Even if you don't have a mum, there is a separate day for father's.

To think this is ridiculous

not really. its aimed at people presumably who have only been brought up by their father and are showing them that extra appreciation and saying it may be mothers day but I only had you etc.

LApprentiSorcier · 27/02/2021 18:29

It's perhaps aimed at children who, for whatever reason, don't have a mum in their lives and don't want to feel left out. No more ridiculous than any other commercial cards, really. It's retail - if there's a demand for something, it's reasonable for someone to sell it (as long as whatever it is is harmless, as this is).

Screwcorona · 27/02/2021 18:53

We send to my husbands mum on fathers day...as she did all the parenting. It's just nice to appreciate them for both roles I suppose

DifficultPifcultLemonDifficult · 27/02/2021 18:54

I get a card on fathers day from my older kids because they only have me and they want to acknowledge I'm doing the job of 2 parents 🤷‍♀️ not ridiculous at all.

HugeAckmansWife · 27/02/2021 19:07

Some of my friends send me a card on fathers day because my ex is such a waste of space. They sometimes do it on fb just to stir the pot 😂. It's just making a point that some parents have to be both.

Littlepaws18 · 27/02/2021 19:15

Think it's perfect, Mother's Day isn't always a happy occasion and it's not one size fits all. My daughter doesn't have her biological father in her life, so I can see how they card would include people who may feel like it's a celebration they couldn't be part of.

InsertCoolHalloweenNameHere · 27/02/2021 19:17

Do you pull your face on fathers day when there are cards aimed for mums?

MadeOfStarStuff · 27/02/2021 19:18

YABU

as others have said it’s for children who don’t have a mum in their lives for whatever reason. There should be the equivalent for mums on Father’s Day as well

If you don’t like it don’t buy it but YABU to not understand why it’s needed

DrWankincense · 27/02/2021 19:19

I'm with everyone else. There isn't a one size fits all when it comes to parenting and if you fulfill the role of both then it's nice to be acknowledged for both.
I find it more annoying that it's really difficult to find a birthday card with Granny on it as opposed to Gran, Grandma,Nanny etc. I won't lose sleep over it.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 27/02/2021 19:21

I can’t get worked up about this.

Liquorishtoffee · 27/02/2021 19:22

I wonder why someone wouldn’t get a ‘wishing you a lovely mother’s day’ and wrote their own personal message?

yookayhun · 27/02/2021 19:23

They also do the same cards for Mums on Fathers Day, so YABU

yookayhun · 27/02/2021 19:24

@DrWankincense if you need a "Granny" card and aren't in Scotland, I can 100% send you one if you need one!!!

Sparklingbrook · 27/02/2021 19:24

It's not ridiculous, I agree with PPs that it's for Dads that for whatever reason are doing the job of both parents on their own

DrWankincense · 27/02/2021 19:26

I'm in Scotland @yookayhun!! I can never bloody find one! Where do you shop? I'm obviously in the wrong places (sorry for derail)!!

SleepingStandingUp · 27/02/2021 19:28

Would you feel equal ire at a card "to Mom on Father's Day" or is it just the men taking over women's things, of course Mom's are always better than Dad's stuff?

yookayhun · 27/02/2021 19:29

@DrWankincense depends where in Scotland you are! If you have Scribbler near you, most Scottish ones do them, the Waterstones on Byres Road do them every year and there's a shop on Crow Road called "Gie It Laldy" that do them!

DrWankincense · 27/02/2021 19:31

Thank you Smile

Ringshanks · 27/02/2021 19:32

We are two mums and I get cards and fuss on ‘fathers ‘ day whilst my wife is feted on Mother’s Day . We realised early on that you can’t both celebrate the same day if you want a lie in ! I’m imagine this works for double Dad families too ?

Okbussitout · 27/02/2021 19:33

@cherrybunx0

not really. its aimed at people presumably who have only been brought up by their father and are showing them that extra appreciation and saying it may be mothers day but I only had you etc.
Yeah this was my thought too
yookayhun · 27/02/2021 19:33

@Ringshanks this brings me so much joy Thanks

Riapia · 27/02/2021 19:36

Well someone obviously understands their market.
Produce any shit and they will buy it.

Monty27 · 27/02/2021 19:40

That's a great card. I'm a female single parent and last year on father's day dd gave me a card. I was chuffed. So I get it ❤️

Sapho47 · 27/02/2021 19:41

@Tnuc

Why would anyone want to buy this? Even if you don't have a mum, there is a separate day for father's.
Because it would be a bit shit for every one of thier friends to be doing fun mothers day things with thier mum and they have to miss it as there's only dad.

There's 2 days 1 for each parent but both for the child l.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 27/02/2021 19:42

I think Mr Potato Head will be very happy with it.
