To think this is ridiculous

Why would anyone want to buy this? Even if you don't have a mum, there is a separate day for father's.

Tbh I was with op. Single parent or not, there still a day for you. Fathers Day for fathers, Mothers Day for mothers. And then there are a gazillion versions of "like a mother/father to me" as well for those brought up by non-biological parents or other family members.

And yes, Dear Mum cards on Fathers Day would annoy me equally.

Then I read Ringshanks post...that's a lovely way of doing things, now I can see the point of these type of cards a bit more.

I never gave my mum a card on father's day, but I can absolutely see why some would (and vice versa as is here). I was always happy to give my grandparents a card on these respective days as well, as they were far more the loving parental figures in my life than either actual parent.

Better than "Happy Mother's Day from the cat".

LindaEllen · 27/02/2021 19:50

There have been cards for mothers on Father's Day, basically a massive dig about deadbeat dads, for years. So why not?

Which is ‘happy Mother’s Day to the cat’

Presumably some people only have Dads?

Beit through adoption, death, separation ect.

It's not an unfathomable notion in 2021!

Not everyone has a mum, not everyone has a dad. Some people have a poor relationship with one of their parents, some people were raised by carers rather than parents. There are many many ways to be a family, its important for children in different families to be able to see their family represented.

You have to remember mothers and fathers day are special for the children, particularly young children.

Last year my son was made to make a mothers day card at school last year, he doesn’t have a mum, the TA and class teacher knows this. I don’t care if I receive a card saying mummy, I don’t care if I don’t get a card, it doesn’t matter to me, but it mattered to my son that it said mummy rather than daddy.

YABU. I've bought my mum father's day cards in the past. She is my only parent so I wanted to recognise her on both days. It's not hurting anyone
