For getting my hopes up?! Would you?

Job interview today for my dream job.
Seemed to go well had a great rapport with the panel (albeit virtual) they had no questions on my presentation but said thank you for the amount of work gone into it.
Asked me a few non interview questions after the formal questions about people id worked with before, my volunteer work etc
And asked if I would be wanting to reduce the hours (it’s f/t currently I’m part time)
My gut instinct was I’d done really well much better than I expected but I’ve thought that before and not been right.
But this is such a niche job and my area.
I don’t want to get my hopes and be disappointed but I’ve got a good feeling!
They’d said I’d know by Monda

I don't think anyone can tell you, but best of luck!

triceratops12 · 25/02/2021 19:41

When I've interviewed people before, if we really aren't interested in them we don't ask a lot of questions afterwards, we try and finish it quickly for both parties.

The fact they had interest in you means there was something about you they liked. I can't guarantee it'll get you the job though!

Good luck!!

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 25/02/2021 19:42

Think that’s true November but I think I’ll be a bag of nerves until Monday. Such a unique opportunity I will be absolutely gutted if I don’t get it - would be a dream come true. Life changing.

Absolutely no one can tell you!! But, if you think its gone really well, have faith in yourself and hopefully you will get the job. They wouldn't have interviewed you if they didn't think you were a good fit for the job.

HeyDW96 · 25/02/2021 19:44

It's sometimes impossible not to get your hopes up - you won't know until Monday, try and chill over the weekend! I always try to think, even if I don't get it, it's all good experience.

daisychain01 · 25/02/2021 19:48

I can tell you're hopping from one foot t'other, but it's best to try and contain your enthusiasm just on the off chance you don't get offered the job.

It sounds very likely you will get it from what you've said, but think that if it's someone else's and not yours this time round, what have you learned that you can use in your next interview. It's about being able to manage disappointment isn't it.

Fingers tight crossed!

daisychain01 · 25/02/2021 19:50

I quite like the wait, weirdly enough, it's a bit like Christmas, the build up is more enjoyable than the event itself!

HollowTalk · 25/02/2021 19:51

I really hope you get the job! Do you think they were just double checking about F/T or P/T because they can see you work P/T now but they want someone who'll do F/T?

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 25/02/2021 19:54

Yes hollow and I said I absolutely want full time and explained childcare etc all in place.

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 25/02/2021 19:54

And thank you hollow 🤞🤞🤞

I'm surprised Noone has mentioned the non formal questions you asked. Especially the P/t - f/t, I didn't think they were allowed too. I wonder if they asked any of the male candidates that question.

Besides that, fingers crossed for you!!

Livelovebehappy · 25/02/2021 20:08

Sometimes I think interviewers have pretty much made up their minds before they interview of who they prefer on paper. But fingers crossed OP. It’s gonna be a looooong weekend for you....

Tal45 · 25/02/2021 20:17

Goodluck!! They may well let you know sooner, especially if you've got the job. They wouldn't want you to take something else in the meantime xxx

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 25/02/2021 23:07

Hope so!

Shufflebudge · 25/02/2021 23:13

What were the questions they asked you about F/T and P/T? Sounds a bit odd

DramaAlpaca · 25/02/2021 23:13

Fingers firmly crossed for you! Shamrock

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 25/02/2021 23:16

It did seem odd at the end be of the she asked about my current salary and Said obviously that’s part time hours- this role is full time but you like to do it part time and I said no I’m looking to work full time everything’s in place to enable me to do that. It seemed to come from a god place like he was checking I was ok with this to make that transition from part time to full time iyswim - although could be just my wishful thinking!

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 25/02/2021 23:17

Good place and not god 😂
Although I will take divine intervention most happily!

Onedropbeat · 25/02/2021 23:17

Good luck op
Mi hope you get the good news

Onjnmoeiejducwoapy · 25/02/2021 23:30

I’ll join you on the stressing, am in the exact same situation Confused except I don’t have a firm timeline of when I’m hearing back! Good luck

Flamingolingo · 26/02/2021 07:18

Ahh so I never put my part time salary on an application, only ever put my full time (and scale it to their working week, eg in an old job FT was 35h, so for a 40h week I adjust accordingly). So that would avoid that question.

Otherwise sounds positive. Hopefully they will let you know today. For my job I was told it would be the same week, but got a call at 0915 the next morning.

ChickenSoupForTheHmm · 26/02/2021 09:34

No call at 9:15 sadly but hopefully today 🤞
Think I’m more nervous now than I was yesterday for the interview weirdly 😆

rainbowcakes · 26/02/2021 10:03

Best of luck OP. I was in this exact same position last week so know exactly how you feel. Just need to try & distract yourself as much as possible, which i know isnt the easiest when in lockdown Grin
