Ultra trivial things you miss

Things you miss which are so trivial you would sound incredibly 'first world problem' if you told anyone.

I will start with:

Wearing lipstick and big earrings. I look like a potato without them but I can't with a mask on.

OP posts:
PogoTheClown · 22/02/2021 13:35

Doing my hair.

KeyboardWorriers · 22/02/2021 13:41

buying a naice sandwich or salad for lunch

evilharpy · 22/02/2021 13:44

Handbags. Having a reason to use one of my lovely bags instead of just shoving my phone and keys in my pocket.

Wandering around the lovely local very posh, not bogstandard garden centre, looking at all the beautiful overpriced homewares, hooks and tasteful toys, sniffing all the nice toiletry samples and having lunch in their nice cafe.

One thing I missed last year before we went back into lockdown was having a squirt of a Tom Ford scent in the airport - no more testers.

Mellonsprite · 22/02/2021 13:46

Yes to missing lipstick! I know it’s rather pathetic but I love red lippy and really miss wearing it.
I also miss the smell of going into my local Italian restaurant and the smell of garlic and steak grilling.

Being able to use Face ID for Apple Pay in shops. It's driving me bonkers.

AntigoneLost · 22/02/2021 13:49

Being able to just turn up to one of the local NT places without booking in advance.

Pukkatea · 22/02/2021 13:50

I've been doing my hair and makeup more than ever before Grin sitting at home all dolled up to watch TV.

tracker222 · 22/02/2021 14:03

Driving my car with my music playing loudly and singing along.

Plonque · 22/02/2021 14:12

Haha, everyone has already covered most of mine Grin

Picking 1child up from school, and taking them for juice and cake while the other is at a club, then getting the second one a bit later.

Being in the house alone. In fact, just being alone.

ChocOrange1 · 22/02/2021 14:23

Spontaneity. Even in the summer when most places were open, everything had to be booked a week in advance and that does take the fun out of it a bit!

Popping into a cafe for a cake or lunch when we are out and don't fancy cooking.

Taking my daughter to the supermarket. I know this is a crazy one, who wants to wrestle a 4 year old around asda, but she loves it and its a free morning of entertainment!

Swimming

grapewine · 22/02/2021 14:24

A haircut.

teawomen · 22/02/2021 14:32

Miss being a ‘normal’ worker cringe when people say oh your a ‘key worker’. Pre covid We were all equal.

dragoncheeselady · 22/02/2021 14:34

A haircut
just deciding to go to a restaurant for lunch because I can't be bothered cooking
having random chats with people at work (can't really do that on zoom)

BaronessBomburst · 22/02/2021 14:40

Mine is lipstick and small earrings, as opposed to big ones. Grin I want to wear my diamond studs and other favourite earrings but am frightened of losing them. I'm rotating two pairs which clip shut and am bored of both.

NewScone · 22/02/2021 14:44

Going into a shop for a browse

Symbion · 22/02/2021 14:48

Meeting at a friend's house for a cuppa before school pick up.

I'm sure you look nothing like a potato OP!

DahliaMacNamara · 22/02/2021 14:49

I just want a few random food things in shops that are too far away for me to decently travel to when there's a reasonable sized if dull supermarket 5 minutes down the road. All different shops: this sauce in shop a, that one in shop b, those snacks in shop c. Nothing exotic. It feels so spoiled to be pining to go dipping into different shops when I can afford to fill my trolley every week, though.

SpnBaby1967 · 22/02/2021 15:09

My commute, singing wildly in my car.

Getting dressed up & make up on for work.

Spontaneity

Anjo2011 · 22/02/2021 15:16

Popping into town on the way to collect children from school, browsing the shops for nothing in particular and buying a treat for after school snack.

CounsellorTroi · 22/02/2021 15:41

Haircut
Sitting in a coffee shop drinking coffee and just watching the world go by
Browsing the books in charity shops

LongPauseNoAnswer · 22/02/2021 15:45

Taking my MacBook to work from my local Starbucks which is the best people watching spot I’ve ever discovered bar the airport.

Spending an hour alone walking around Primark just browsing.

LongPauseNoAnswer · 22/02/2021 15:46

Also seeing people’s faces Sad

grapewine · 22/02/2021 15:55

I agree. Can't wait to be able to do that.

feckinarse · 22/02/2021 15:56

Browsing the books in charity shops and bookshops.

Being spontaneous about going to the pub with mates after meeting for a walk or something.
