SpeckledyHen · 19/02/2021 07:46

As so many people have said they are the best thing they have bought during the lockdowns , AIBU to ask which one you bought and would recommend ?

There’s a quite a few in the range, What influenced your decision?

www.imore.com/all-eufy-vacuums-and-their-differences
S - no connectivity
C - Internet connectivity
30 - boundary strip
MAX - extra power

I've got the 30C Max, because that's what was on offer at the time. I use the boundary strips sometimes but they aren't something I'd pay more for.

There are lots of models out there though, not just eufy.

Jumpers268 · 19/02/2021 07:59

Also got the Eufy 30C Max. He's called Roger and he's fab. Set to go on in the morning before we wake up! Only thing is he has a breakdown with charging cables and shoelaces. I use the boundary strips to separate the kitchen from the living room so he only does 1 room at a time.

MrsSpenserGregson · 19/02/2021 08:04

I am curious about the boundary strips. Are they actual physical things which you put on the floor? (I remember, years ago, looking at the Roomba and I think it had some sort of laser / digital boundary thing). It sounds like you can remove them and reuse them? And if you leave doors open, will the Eufy go from room to room (if you're not using boundary strips)?

My dad's name was Roger Grin

Sleepingdogs12 · 19/02/2021 08:07

Always suspicious these posts are an advertising ploy by the company. But anyway I got the euffy cmax in the black Friday sale. It works really well, really pleased with it. But I don't use the WiFi to programme it because I find it easier to use when I am home doing other things and just set it off when I want . It gets stuck sometimes even when on other days it works around an object . It sends me a message to say it is stuck if out of sight which is good. Best thing is young adult children are now cleaning their rooms more- it is still a novelty. I don't use the strips, can't get them to lie flat. I just put cushions or something where I don't want to to go. If it broke tomorrow I would buy one again. Just used it this am to do the kitchen and hall while I did the dishwasher etc.

Eufy boundary strips are physical magnetic strips you put down and the robovac doesn't cross them. Mine are stuck on the back of my tall radiator when not in use (so most of the time). Yes with open doors the eufy just roams.

Other robovacs have mapping so you can create virtual boundaries rather than physical.

Jumpers268 · 19/02/2021 08:14

@MrsSpenserGregson the boundary strips are like rubber strips. They are quite thick and come coiled so I bitch to lie flat at first. And then you have double sided tape to stick it down. I also use them to block off the dog water and food bowls.

Roger is such a strong, manly name. Very apt.

I highly recommend one. I've got 2 dogs and a 5 year old and Roger is full every morning after just doing to living room. Also really useful for hoovering under the bed!

MrsSpenserGregson · 19/02/2021 08:15

Thanks @Chasingsquirrels

I really want one now - every other post on the "What's the best thing you've bought in lockdown" was raving about the Eufy!

Can they handle Labrador hair? How often do you need to empty them?

ThreeTwoOneBlastOff · 19/02/2021 08:17

I’ve got the 30C. I’ve never used the boundary strips, I’ve always just moved stuff. Sometimes I get a text to say ‘help me I’m stuck’ and it turns out it’s tried to eat a wire. We talk to it like it’s real...

I do love it, we set it off in the evenings every day. It also somehow knows where the edge of the stairs is and doesn’t fall down them. Yes it goes from room to room if you don’t shut the doors. I think it’s brilliant and everyone should have one.

MrsSpenserGregson · 19/02/2021 08:17

@Jumpers268 Grin

Chasingsquirrels · 19/02/2021 08:18

I don't stick mine down, they are a pain with the coil at first but soon lie flat if you keep them uncoiled (magnet to a radiator or side of the fridge-freezer).

If you look at the robovac threads you will see other recommendations around the eufy price point, some with mopping capability. Then of course you can go more expensive.

LakieLady · 19/02/2021 08:19

I so want a Eufy. I love the idea of sitting watching tv while upstairs is being vacuumed, or coming back from shopping to find the downstairs has been done.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/02/2021 08:20

I am another that bought a lockdown eufy.
She is called Daisy the kitchenmaid.
The big thing I noticed was that when I would hoover, then mop wood floors the mop was full of pet hair (dog and cat) and when Daisy zooms round and then I mop there is absolutely no hair.
I feel like I have help! I set her off in the kitchen and go walk the dog and then come come to a beautifully hoovered room.
I think she's brilliant.
I don't use the strips-just block off things like cross trainer that she gets stuck under.
Highly recommend!!

Sleepingdogs12 · 19/02/2021 08:21

Oh thanks for tip about putting strip on the fridge or radiator to flatten it. I will try this. It has been hanging off a hook since Christmas but is still coiled up. Why didn't I think of this?

DappledOliveGroves · 19/02/2021 08:23

We've got the 30C Max. His name is Roman - he makes life so much easier!

LetMeStraightenMyCrownFirst · 19/02/2021 08:24

What if you have thick thresholds between rooms? Can these Hoovers cross them?

Sexnotgender · 19/02/2021 08:27

I’ve got the 15C Max. It’s AMAZING.

I got the Max as I have pets and children. I didn’t want the boundary strips as they felt unnecessary.

Chasingsquirrels · 19/02/2021 08:27

I have a cocker spaniel (long hair) and a weekend great dane (short hair) and it copes fine with both.

Mine is programmed to go every morning at 4.30am.
It does the lounge, playroom, dining room & hall.
When I get up at 7.30am it is still recharging, but it's usually done by 8am.

Then every few days I'll set it off in the day and it does kitchen, conservatory & utility.

About once a week I set it off upstairs and it dies my bedroom & ensuite, main bathroom, landing and depending on where the floors are clear the spare room & ds2's room. Ds1 can sort himself out, I'm not sending eufy in there!

I empty it after every use, it could so 2 but its just become part of the routine.

If using on carpets I have found that the beater bar gets full of carpet fibers and I clean that most days as well. I don't think this would be a problem on hard floors. I also have to de-hair it after it's done my bedroom as I shed when I'm doing my hair.

Tomatobear · 19/02/2021 08:28

We got the 30C because it was on offer at the time. I absolutely love Gerry, I prefer him to my husband at times Grin

Sexnotgender · 19/02/2021 08:28

Roger is such a strong, manly name. Very apt.

Mine is called Brian 😂

Chasingsquirrels · 19/02/2021 08:29

@LetMeStraightenMyCrownFirst

What if you have thick thresholds between rooms? Can these Hoovers cross them?
They can cross thresholds but have height limits. Check the specs of the specific robovac you are considering.

@LetMeStraightenMyCrownFirst

What if you have thick thresholds between rooms? Can these Hoovers cross them?
Depends how thick. Mine can get onto my rug but not over the base of my baby gate.

I tend to shut him in one room anyway as I find it more effective.

Jumpers268 · 19/02/2021 08:32

I've got a cavalier king Charles and a Pomeranian. Yup. Lots and lots of dog hair. He copes fine with the dog hair although the compartment does get full but I actually like that. Shows he's had a busy morning. I empty it after every use (really easy to empty) and will quite often have him go again in the evenings.

fluffythedragonslayer · 19/02/2021 08:47

I've also got the 30C max. Adore him. Definitely best lockdown purchase, by far!

Flylilly · 19/02/2021 08:51

I am one of those people- we love ours so so much. You feel like you’re achieving even when you’re doing nothing. We have a cat and a dog and hard floors- the amount of stuff it picks up every day is astonishing. We bought the 11s and it’s set on a timer to come out at the same time every day. We decided we really didn’t need any connectivity- you just want it to Hoover. We’ve told all our friends to get one.

LetMeStraightenMyCrownFirst · 19/02/2021 11:18

@Chasingsquirrels @Sexnotgender thank you. We have fairly thick wooden thresholds (at least 1cm high) so I'll do some research first. With four dogs the place needs hoovering at least twice daily.
