...or items?

Mine have been:

  1. A large transparent command hook that I put on the side of a chest of drawers to hang my hairdryer on (I tried lots of other sticky hooks before but that was the only one that actually worked)
  1. Buying all the same clothes hangers so DD's clothes look tidier
  1. A large kitchen sink tidier which has instantly made the kitchen side less messy

I am on a constant mission to improve our living spaces, so AIBU to ask what yours have been?

Is anyone else making lists reading this thread

My robot vacuum cleaner arrived today. Fleecy insoles for my wellies arriving tomorrow.

Kolo · 22/02/2021 20:35

Huge bags of Monkey nuts for our lovely squirrel family

This has reminded me that I bought a massive bag of peanuts and some coconut shell bird feeders. It's been so therapeutic to watch the birds come and feed out my kitchen window.

My DH bought me an OS map of our area for Mother's Day last year, just before we went into lockdown. I made it my aim to try out all the local footpaths I'd never been down. Definitely not done all of them, but have done lots! Ive really enjoyed discovering bits of my local area that I may otherwise have missed.

ThriceAsNaice · 22/02/2021 20:45

A chest freezer, internal insulated roof fur the conservatory and a dog. Very pleased with all 3Grin. Would love a garden egg chair, missed out on the Aldi ones last year.

CoRhona · 22/02/2021 22:50

@kolo our robot hoover arrived yesterday. Straight out of the box and set to work; then set for a 4am hoover; then again this afternoon. It's like our new very useful toy Grin

Running trainers, smart watch which i absolutely love, fab phone carrier for running, a karcher in lockdown 1. Waterproof trousers for my children has been a great investment.

tobee · 22/02/2021 23:59

Air fryer.

Streaming channels subscriptions that we don't normally have.

Royal Mail parcel collection from doorstep

tobee · 23/02/2021 00:00

Oh yeah and a cheap and small extra freezer

tobee · 23/02/2021 00:01

I bought a couple of board games and sadly we haven't played any yet.

tobee · 23/02/2021 00:04

Ooh and how could I forget? My blow up bed! I've been sleeping in the living room since last March because of cev Dh. Full size and height inflatable bed with electric integral pump!!

YouWinSomeYouLoseSome · 23/02/2021 00:13

I bought an ipad. My first ever one. Was expensive but so worth it. We use it most days for homeschooling!

MrJollyLivesNextDoor · 23/02/2021 00:41

Can I say least useful item?

Downstairs loo was gurgling and not flushing properly
Bought what looked like a rather industrial plunger - didn't work.

Called welsh water out - poor bloke had to get an industrial strength blender type probe to churn up the 50 year old fat/waste berg that had accumulated from 3 houses on the drain line 🤭

I can still hear the noise of that thing. And the smell was like nothing on Earth. 🤮

Habbyhadno · 23/02/2021 00:49

A Peloton (no, I'm not an influencer) best purchase I've probably ever made and a total lifesaver in lockdown.

Josev

Apologies, I hadn’t come back to this thread until now - I got two of these (one for the living room and one for the bedroom)

RandomGirl which spiky ball do you favour?
@joesev sorry, my tag didn’t work, I got two of these, one for the living room (when sat on sofa) and one for when I’m in bed:

pickingdaisies · 23/02/2021 10:39

@SunshineCake my mum used to clean the stair carpet with a short handled brush and dustpan (a proper brush though, not a flimsy plastic one). She'd tie a scarf around her hair, Landgirl style, start at the top, on hands and knees, and make her way down. She didn't half kick up a racket brushing out those corners! Once she reached the bottom, she'd sweep up into the dustpan then hoover the hall for good measure.
The vacuum cleaner hasn't been invented yet that could do such a good job.
Sadly I have not inherited her cleaning skills (or inclination)

I've been debating a rubber broom and now keep getting ads for a lint roller ?

Anyone tried both ?

GirlInterruptedAgain · 23/02/2021 11:04

Mask

sarahphimanellahim · 23/02/2021 11:12

A soda stream

They even do a tonic mix, not the best but it's okay and it does mean I have a constant supply of gin and tonic Grin

I got the lint roller for £3.50 on Ebay and it does work. I used it to remove the pilling on an expensive fleece.
BobsDouble · 23/02/2021 13:14

I bought a rubber broom after seeing so many recommendations on MN. What a waste of money! Used twice, now festering in a cupboard.

Bargebill19 · 23/02/2021 13:34

Rubber broom is good indoors for pet hair.
Otherwise an ordinary broom is better. Although I like the ease of washing a rubber broom as opposed to keeping a normal hair broom smelling sweet.

Rhubarblin · 23/02/2021 13:59

My absolute best lockdown purchase has been amazing at keeping my 2 year old I entertained. I got some of those big foam shapes that are covered in colourful PVC type material (like they would have inside a soft play centre) - she plays with them literally all day. I think they would come under the title of open-ended play so there's so many different games they can play with them. I actually got the idea from lots of people buying those pikler triangles but she has reduced mobility (only been properly walking a couple of months and is almost 3) so I needed something ground level.

If we were very rich and had a huge house I'd put in our own built in soft play area like celebrities do but for now a few cubes etc will have to do!

Youmeandourthree · 23/02/2021 14:04

We bought a huge paddling pool (obviously for the children ;-)
