OK, I am in NI and am gritting my teeth along with the rest of us at the huge numbers of non available items and restrictions on my online order.Tough to get more fruit and veg than I could be bothered listing. So many items with a limit such as water (4 by the way). But Smarties ffs? 1packet of Smarties? There isn't a shortage or Asda would not have let me put 6 in my basket. I don't actually want 6, just checking what the limit is and that is where I stopped. This actually may push me over the edge. What is the final straw for you. Need I point out that this is a lighthearted thread? Maybe someone in head office has noticed my Smartie consumption creeping up and stepped in to save me from myself. Now I have to catch a bus to Asda. Raging.

1Smarties 4 Pack 152G now in basket
MAX
Add 1 Smarties 4 Pack 152G to basket

Quantity can no longer be increased.

Be mad at Nigel Farage or Boris Johnson, not Tesco.

Masterbeth, did you miss the lighthearted part of the post?As my dad you used to say. You don't need to take one, there will always be one there!!

Sorry, dashed that off before seeing you expressed my feelings perfectly!! (Eats humble pie)

If you don't mind me appropriating memories of your dad, I am so stealing that one. It's wonderful!

BidensWingWoman · 12/02/2021 09:45

You are being pushed over the edge because you can't buy more than one multi-pack of smarties?

Sounds like you probably have more serious things going on, and this is the one you feel you can rant about, because smarties are really not that important in the grand scheme of things.

Hope you are okay.

BidensWingWoman · 12/02/2021 09:47

Oops, missed the bit where you said it was lighthearted. Yes, it needed the disclaimer,

bloodyhairy · 12/02/2021 09:47

YANBU. I couldn't even get a cucumber in my Tesco online order the other day. Lots of things are marked as unavailable. Usually the cheaper option Hmm

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 12/02/2021 09:50

Not just Tesco. Morrison's have had no bagels for over a week!!! How dare they not stock such an essential item!!

nicslackey · 12/02/2021 09:50

Laughing at the thought of comparing cucumbers to Smarties!!!! LOL

If you out sugar in a cucumber, it tastes like watermelon 🍉

Lookatthemshine · 12/02/2021 09:54

In NI too - my Tesco order is due soon and contains (hopefully) a half cucumber as ‘quantity cannot be increased’!

MissBaskinIfYoureNasty · 12/02/2021 09:56

You don't need to take one, there will always be one there!!
Can someone explain this pleeeease? I want to get it because it looks funny Grin

nicslackey · 12/02/2021 09:59

Miss Baskin. My dad meant, you need not worry about taking an idiot with you as there will be a supply wherever you go.

Maybe Tesco have put a blanket '1 item of chocolate things per order' limit? Maybe Asda have nicked all the NI supply of smarties, leaving Tesco with none? If you tried to buy M&Ms or Rolo's in addition to the Smarties, would it let you have those?

Over here (GB) Tesco have been quite strict on item limits throughout lockdown as it's been their way of dealing with shortages, and Tesco have always been very mercenary about making a profit, so I doubt they'll deliberately choose to do things that threaten this.

DoctorHildegardLanstrom · 12/02/2021 10:14

What has pushed me to the edge is the fact that 8 loose carrots can count as 8 items, yet a bag with at least 12 counts as 1 item.

Its a 95 limit on the basket, and loose carrots and pasnips makes up 16 of those

YouHadMeAtWoof · 12/02/2021 10:16

What’s more upsetting is the 95 item Tesco limit. Absolute fuckers. I can shop smarties at Asda with gay abandon. But if I buy my 4 packet limit at Tesco, it will have to be at the sacrifice of apples and gin. Sad times.

YouHadMeAtWoof · 12/02/2021 10:17

Cross post Doctor.

Good shout, are you allowed Rolos AND Smarties?

Yes it's silly! I ended up with a whole bag of onions because I needed 3. I'm now trying to stick onions in every meal!
dotoallasyouwouldbedoneby · 12/02/2021 10:21

I switched from Tesco to Asda because of the 80 item limit and the fact they counted 1 loose banana as a single item when there were no bunches available. This was pre-Brexit.

BiddyPop · 12/02/2021 10:23

Well, only Smarties have the answer
