To ask if this chicken is cooked?

Ordered from a Turkish takeaway (used them many times and always been lovely food).

Got chicken thighs but I think they aren't cooked thoroughly. My DH says they look fine but I'm not sure. Google also says it is normal for thighs to be pink but I'm not sure...

What do you good people think? Do I keep eating or chuck it away and get something else to eat!?

I always cook chicken a bit longer than it says on the instructions. No harm in putting it back in for ten more minutes and see what it looks like then?

withmycoffee · 10/02/2021 19:03

Easier to tell of you actually split the meat in the middle. Sometimes the smooth part looks pinkish in some lights. Split the piece open and the texture will tell us if it's cooked.

WonderingIf38 · 10/02/2021 19:03

Eurgh me neither. Are you sending it back?

Weedsnseeds1 · 10/02/2021 19:03

Looks under to me. Thigh meat is pinkish brown, but should be opaque, not semi-translucent like that.

JackieweaverhasALLtheauthority · 10/02/2021 19:03

Shove it in the oven for another 20 minutes. Make sure it is piping hot

withmycoffee · 10/02/2021 19:04

2nd pic. Looks raw. Not undercooked. Actually raw. How long was it in?

Dahlietta · 10/02/2021 19:04

It doesn't look very cooked, but normally if something isn't cooked enough, it wouldn't be the same colour all the way through like that. Unless it's just raw...

the80sweregreat · 10/02/2021 19:04

Oh sorry ; it's a takeaway ! Didn't see that bit of your post. Maybe call them up and tell them it's undercooked? I wouldn't eat that as it looks a bit raw still.

LavendarMoon · 10/02/2021 19:04

I wouldn’t eat it, but then the very thought that it might not be cooked would put me off!

StoneofDestiny · 10/02/2021 19:04

Not at all!

Causewithoutarebel · 10/02/2021 19:05

Doesn’t look cooked to me!

justcannotwithyou · 10/02/2021 19:06

Doesn't look cooked to me but I am not a thigh person at all so I may be wrong here.

HangOnToYourself · 10/02/2021 19:06

Oh no definitely not cooked in the second one you should call them

joystir59 · 10/02/2021 19:06

It just looks bleugh. I wouldn't eat that.

glugg · 10/02/2021 19:06

Ugh! Nope. In the oven at 200 for 20

1Morewineplease · 10/02/2021 19:06

Looks raw to me.

justcannotwithyou · 10/02/2021 19:07

Actually just seen the second picture. That literally looks like raw chicken, not just undercooked, but raw.

Whatsnewpussyhat · 10/02/2021 19:07

2nd pic looks raw. No way I'd risk that.

SnarkyBag · 10/02/2021 19:07

The second picture looks raw!

WineIsMyMainVice · 10/02/2021 19:08

I’d shove it in the oven for 15 or 20 minutes

FrostyChocolateMilkshake · 10/02/2021 19:11

I've already eaten some of it, called the restaurant and they've offered a refund.
Hoping I'm not horrendously sick tonight...

I cook drumsticks and thighs a lot, and that looks nearly raw to me.

It's not just the colour but the look of the texture.

Fingers crossed you will be fine though, try not to think about it too much as you could end up making yourself feel ill psychosomatically.

I'm not sure this has ever been looked into and I'm too lazy to Google but I've heard that alcohol can reduce risk of getting food poisoning, (some people went to dinner, The people who had wine with dinner were spared, can't remember exactly) so I always have a horrific shot of vodka or whatever I have on hand when I realise I've eaten something undercooked. Never been sick even after eating undercooked meat though, so you know...
