Valentines day cards...

Abermora · 08/02/2021 18:55

Just looking for one for a newish relationship and omg they are also over the top!

I mean I just wanted a cutesy card to say hugs and kisses and have a nice day...(he's always doing I've things for me and i just thought it would be a nice gesture) but they all seem to be undying love and destiny and utter mush. Looking at most of them thinking 'I couldn't ever see me sending something this full on! Even if we had been together 20 years!'.

Am I being unfair in asking that there are just a few that include things we would actually mean? Like 'Well we've survived this far, heres to another year of not wanting to kill eachother!'.

I finally found one that was acceptable only to open it up and find it had a poem in it about living happily ever after. Fml lol.

Going to have to edit it. Or make my own.
I'm new to this valentines day lark. Can see why people skip it lol.

We've been together 10 years and have never done Valentine's Day.

iklboo · 08/02/2021 18:56

Have you looked at Thortful or Moonpig where you can customise your card? They've got 40% off discount code at the minute.

LApprentiSorcier · 08/02/2021 18:57

Why not buy a blank card and write your own message? I'm no fan of mushy verses either, so I've done that in the past if I can't find a humorous one I like.

TriflePudding · 08/02/2021 18:57

Etsy is your friend here OP!

Movinghouseatlast · 08/02/2021 18:57

Have a look on Thortful.

iklboo · 08/02/2021 18:57

Moonpig has discount, sorry.

Happycat1212 · 08/02/2021 18:57

Don’t moon pig allow you to do your own? I don’t know though never sent a valentines day card

zigaziga · 08/02/2021 18:58

Where are you looking? I mostly see funny or dirty/funny ones.

Shoxfordian · 08/02/2021 19:04

Yeah Etsy is good
Maybe notonthehighstreet as well

zigaziga · 08/02/2021 19:04

But I also often think this about Mother’s Day and Father’s Day cards. They’re all so over the top.

LarsErickssong · 08/02/2021 19:07

Have a look at Thortful, everything from mushy to funny to rude to simple.

Abermora · 08/02/2021 19:08

I should have shopped around more but I wasnt even thinking of it until I passed a stall in the shopping centre today. Moonpig might be a good shout actually!

Definitely get something from Thortful. You can basically get one that says I like you but In a punny way. My husband is getting a digger card.

User7312019 · 08/02/2021 19:11

Remember the pain of this when shopping for a card for DH (then boyfriend) before we had said I love you to each other! Couldn’t find a card not confessing undying love for ages

OhMsBeliever · 08/02/2021 19:11

I got one from Etsy. Not really a Valentine's Day card but has a pic of hobby we share on the front and is blank inside so I can write whatever I want. No poems!

SleepingStandingUp · 08/02/2021 19:11

But sure where you are but normally places like Card Factory will have a good variety from mush to rude to loving wishes to your cart, son and the guy you only meet last week

Thortful do really good stuff like this

wishes1111 · 08/02/2021 19:16

I've seen some in Tesco that just say "to my Valentine" or similar with blank insides. Maybe the bigger supermarkets have more range. The lessl "lovey dovey" ones tend to be at the bottom of the displays

Abermora · 08/02/2021 19:18

Sorta tempted to leave it just to have a laugh at his reaction.

Just 'have a lovely valentines day' on the front and then inside '... ... ... well that's escalated quickly!"
