To ask if £50 on a candle is worth it?

Close friends milestone birthday is coming up this month. Years ago we had all agreed that we would have a spa day for her birthday.

Obviously that is not an option at the moment and we can't even book for the future as don't know when spas will be open.

So I wanted send her something to recreate the spa at home experience. About £50 budget.

She's really into luxury skin brands etc . I'm not and therefore a bit shocked by some of the prices.

So is a neom candle at £50 worth it, or is there something just as good and nasty expensive.

Just feel like sending only a candle doesn't seem like much

Jo Malone no. I think they’ve become a bit naff.

Diptyque yes. They are elegant, classy and scent the room when not lit.

Fuck sake. Zombie thread.

Take a look online at TK Max. They have some very expensive candles for much less than rrp

Fuck sake. Zombie thread.
If the topic is still of interest to people it really doesn't matter that the thread was started a few months ago. There's no statute of limitations on discussion.

Death to all scented candles. I can't stand them

But also:50 pounds... for a candle...?

Imagine getting a scent that she actually doesn't love ..

@mangoontoast ha! My bad for resurrecting a zombie thread…. Genuinely didn’t notice and no I hadn’t scrolled loads, no idea how I found it!

Anyway, as others have pointed out, it’s a useful topic for this time of year.

£50 on a candle? I’d return it!

Fluffmum · 03/12/2021 18:01

I wouldn’t want a fifty quid candle. I’d rather the fifty quid in my hand lol

I've got a couple of Cire Trudon candles, and they are absolutely heavenly, a complete one off purchase to celebrate something huge.

Ridiculously expensive for someone who doesn't get it. But for someone who appreciates the specific smell, then yes.

The only thing is you have to be super careful that it's one they like. It's not something to get wrong. 😬

I would love a really special candle, although I would choose a dypthique one. I love them but they are a luxury I would rarely buy for myself because, as you note, they are a lot of money.
It would feel more special to me to get one really gorgeous candle than a cheaper candle, a cheaper bottle of sparking wine, and other little bits.

fuzzywuzzywombat · 03/12/2021 18:26

It's money to burn : literally

Feelingimpatient · 04/12/2021 13:31

A Diptyque candle is worth every penny if you love candles. I cry with joy if I get given one......ever......!
