Another thread got me thinking. How common is it for women to have orgasms during actual penetrative sex? I didn’t think it was common but perhaps I’m wrong?

Yanbu. Not frequently but yes. Depends on the mood, the hormones, the foreplay, the phase of the moon, the way the flowers have decided to turn, the price of the bread, the weather, ..........

id say that the majority of women would not orgasm through penetrative sex alone, as our clitoris is not inside the vagina, so it needs seperate stimulation

I'm amazed so many do. I thought it was pretty much a done deal that female orgasms were only achieved through a lot of direct clitoral stimulation. Maybe many women have heard or read that it is rare, and believe it rather than experimenting with position and positive thinking, therefore scuppering any chance.

Technique makes a difference. So many men just put it in and pump away as if they are doing push ups, rather than moving carefully and considerately, and women think that is how it is meant to be.

Hmm less so as I get older, I used to be able to orgasm several times, every time I had sex. Seems to be harder now, maybe happens 2 out of 3 times, and only once.

With my last partner I never did, but with my new partner it's everytime we have sex. After thirteen years of meh sex it's quite a big change, lol.
