My DH went to the supermarket this afternoon. As he was walking up to get a trolley he saw a woman just about to put one back. He offered to take the trolley and give her £1 which she accepted. When he went to put the trolley back afterwards there was no £1 in it!

Today as I was next in line to take a trolley, an impatient man desperate to put his back said to me “Love here’s a trolley” and I said “Thank you but I have a token. Sorry.” He then called me a cunt.

Aren’t the stores cleaning for the trolleys between people?! All our shops have a staff member providing sanitised trolleys (with no money in them) at the entrance.

Hope he wiped it first, ewwwww

Marpan The shops near me all have cleaning stations and you clean your own.

Did the woman walk across the car park like that young lady in the Natwest advert?

MrsClatterbuck · 15/01/2021 21:00

I sometimes do get a trolley without using a £1 and sometimes these trolleys have been left and the person hasn't taken their £1. I have one of those trolley coins which is what I'm using at present and just leave it in the car. So if he had given me a £1 he would have gotten a trolley coin not that I would have done that honestly. I used to have a magnetic one that sat in a key ring which was brilliant until DH stole it and then lost itAngry Can't remember why he wanted it and if certainly wasn't anything to do with shopping

@Teardrop2021

Everyone let's do a crowd fund to get ops dh pound back. www.gofund.com#replacestolenpound.
Thanks for setting this up. I have donated a tenner to get the ball rolling.

Think your DH made the whole thing up and spent the pound on a sneaky bar of chocolate.

pinkstripeycat · 15/01/2021 21:35

The same happened to my mum but it was an old man who happily took her £1. I felt so sorry for her. If anyone offers me a £1 (in case they are giving me a token) I always say that my coin is a token
