Honestly I’m finding things tough as I’m sure many others are.

So am just asking you to share - small silly things, large wins - whatever. What had made you smile.

I mastered my Yorkshire puddings! Huge ones for the win! (BBC good food recipe, vegetable oil)

Thedogscollar · 14/01/2021 22:37

I've had my 1st vaccine and got 2nd one booked for March. That's made me smile Grin

JustNotFunAnymore · 14/01/2021 22:41

I learnt how do balance on one leg in beginners yoga. I did a little dance afterwards

AriesTheRam · 14/01/2021 22:47

Seeing a family out in the snow today. They had 3 husky type dogs and two of them were pulling the dad along in a sleigh. Not a normal sight in an ex pit village in Yorkshire!

I recorded myself reading a novel for my class and lots of children have enjoyed the first few chapter and sent lovely messages. Then some parents complained because they don’t like the book/ why was there a bird noise in the background/ why am I not reading it live. So it was nice but now I won’t do it again.

I went back to uni for the first time in two years - off sick all that time . Tears seeing my personal tutor on zoom as I never thought I’d be back studying .

Knottedstomach11 · 14/01/2021 23:04

DS started zoom school classes. It was lovely to see him interact with the other children. One sang & the rest did the song actions it made me well up.
DS is 5 & severely disabled as are the rest of his class. Seeing them all together made me feel like he’s found his squad!

Life is good. People are kind. There is hope.

My youngest, goofy dog is almost always good for a smile, if not a laugh. He loves to come sit in my lap in the evenings while his older "sister" (adopted sister Wink) scratches at my feet until I remove my socks. She takes her foot-cleaning duties very seriously!

My little niece loves the quilt I made for her for Christmas. That's always a pleasant feeling!

2021namechanger · 15/01/2021 01:21

@Thedogscollar my parents have just booked their first vaccines - am so happy about it as they haven’t left the house since last year

I’ve been blown away by the fact that my daughter can now read. Read! And comprehend what she’s reading. Children are incredible.

My animal-ambivalent husband has fallen in love with our little hamster. That makes me smile.

sortmylifeoutplease · 15/01/2021 01:59

The kids were asking how me and their dad met. I was telling them the story and felt myself reliving it and felt extra loved up with him. We've been v thinly stretched lately - 3 little ones.

Effsee · 15/01/2021 02:15

Been having trouble getting to sleep for the past 2 weeks, and my partner has noticed that I've been feeling drained and low.

He came home from work the other day with some shopping and some brand new pillows for me to have at bed time.
Was so thoughtful of him, and it lifted my mood a quite a bit that day.

Still struggle to sleep on a night but at least I'm comfier now 😁

RainySaturday · 15/01/2021 02:22

Sledging made me laugh a lot - all that speed and out of control-ness. Also smowballing. I'm 54 so delighted to still be delighted by this.
Also the dog being daft.

Understandingnotignorance · 15/01/2021 04:40

Joe wicks video that's doing the rounds at the moment 😂 I honestly was like a child holding my stomach and laughing. Needed that kind of laughter after so long.

FirmlyRooted · 15/01/2021 08:12

Opened a delivery yesterday to find a bottle of wine and box of chocolates from my best friend in another country, she knows I've been struggling a lot lately. It made me cry a little

deedeemegadoodoo · 15/01/2021 08:15

Someone nominated me on Instagram to receive a can of Batiste as I am a teacher. That made me smile. I bloody love Batiste as well!

LowestEbb · 15/01/2021 08:15

Lovely thread! My stepchildren have made me laugh and smile a lot. I had a miscarriage in December and wasn't sure I could go on, but they have made my life so much brighter just by being wonderful.

LowestEbb · 15/01/2021 08:17

@deedeemegadoodoo love me a bit of batiste! My hair ends up looking like a 17th century powdered wig but hey if it cuts down on washing time 🙃

DayKay · 15/01/2021 08:24

My dc decided to go and play in the garden. I did warn them it was muddy but thought wth. Poor kids stuck on screens all day, let them play.
Omg the state of them when they got in. Grin
They had decided to play the game ‘diving like goalkeepers’
Two lumps of mud sloshed back into the house. Even their faces were covered in mud. They were filthy but so happy and so, so cute Grin

orangejuicer · 15/01/2021 08:53

My 2yo has started giving me kisses Smile

MrTumblesSpottyHag · 15/01/2021 11:16

Watching my 5yo skip with her hands in her pockets. I don't know why but it made me feel all fuzzy!
