Honestly I’m finding things tough as I’m sure many others are.

So am just asking you to share - small silly things, large wins - whatever. What had made you smile.

My just learning to read 5 year old "reading" a story to her 2 year old sister Grin

I have two cats who are 10 years old. I have had them for 8 years. They are siblings and very affectionate with me and each other but one of them is definitely dominant and the other rarely sits on me and never on the sofa (I assume this is a territory issue). The other day I was sitting on the sofa after having quite a miserable day and the more submissive cat jumped on my knee and sat and purred for at least ten minutes. It was such a lovely special experience. I have no idea why he has done this after 8 years. But I think they just know when you need them. It made my week.

My incompetent manager resigning - still smiling now 😂

We had a lovely snowfall here yesterday and our front garden looks like a Christmas card.

Feeling my first baby kick for the first time!

@2021namechanger
Ahh that's great news for you and your parents. Lovely good news thread.

notawittyname1954 · 15/01/2021 17:25

Series 2 of discovery of witches, also looking forward to It's a sin on channel 4. Listening to my Years and Years cds. Seeing my family and new grandson in Canada on zoom, even though being able to see them in person would be better of course.

ThreeKneeRepeater · 15/01/2021 17:27

My granddaughter. Everything about her makes me smile, because she smiles all the time. Born in the pandemic she knows no other way of life, but is loved and happy.

2021namechanger · 15/01/2021 17:39

I’d love to see a nice dusting of snow! It always makes me smile. Would also make being at home feel a bit more cosy too.

Last Friday's Not Going Out, ( Hugh Dennis and the neighbour). God, it's making me laugh all over again

The youngest dog running along the side of a path in the woods just so that she has to jump over the brambles.

Overhearing my lovely 80 year old neighbour coming back from the hospital and telling another neighbour on the street 'they've given me the all clear'.

Talcott2007 · 15/01/2021 18:04

Oooohhh its a such good one and i have been sworn to secrecy by DH so i can't tell anyone IRL because he would never EVER live it down - earlier this week my DH was changing our almost 3mth DD nappy and stopping mid-change to blow raspberries on her tummy to make her smile/laugh....I said that he might want to finish changing her first and he basically ignored me going on a about how much she loves him doing it. Then not a 5 seconds after I spoke she kicks her legs up in the air and let's rip the biggest wettest shart ever spraying poop all over DH face!! GrinGrinGrin

CarrieMoonbeams · 15/01/2021 18:07

I've just overheard DH singing to one of our dogs:

"The first time, ever I saw your face
I thought the sun rose in your eyes
And the moon and the stars
Were the gifts you gave
To the dark, and the endless sky"

Followed by one of his endless "who's a good boy? You are, yes you are, the bestest boy. And you are very, very loved. Yes you are. And mummy loves you, and I love you, and (he rhymes off the names of all of our other pets here) loves you" etc etc.

He only seems to know that one verse of the song, so hopefully won't be seen as too creepy 🤣. I retreated silently back up the hallway, then made a noisier entrance a few minutes later.

He's an absolute legend, the love and the care he gives to our pets (and me!) is wonderful. (and feel free to judge - yes, we call each other mummy and daddy to our pets Smile).

@VladimirCutiePutiPie What a great thing you did, I'm so sorry that some parents were wazzocks and made you feel deflated.
You sound like a teacher I would have loved to teach my dc Flowers
Otherwise some lovely posts on this thread.

EveryDayIsADuvetDay · 15/01/2021 18:14

well I was having quite a good month and enjoying the peace and quiet - and yes, singing to my cat as well..

I now have (hopefully) a cold, and waiting for test results - but my cat was lovely and spent all morning snuggling up on my bed.
Possibly because my throat is sore, I'm feeling sorry for myself and I've stopped singing to her.

Ifeelyougirl · 15/01/2021 18:38

Thank you!Smile @2021namechanger
