To think dd eats her selection box in the wrong order

My Dd (10) starts with her least favourite chocolate bar (fudge) and works her way up to get favourite. I always did it in reverse. I obviously need instant gratification and she prefers the anticipation which may say a lot about our personalities but the question is AIBU or is she. YABU save the best til last YANBU eat the best one first.

She’s a smart kid

DorisDaisyMay · 25/12/2020 20:45

Well I would do it like you. But I think she does it in a better way!

Amigoingmad29weeks · 25/12/2020 20:46

Depends if you're sharing. If i have a box that's all mine i eat least to best. If I'm sharing it then i eat my favs before anyone else gets their grubby mitts on them 😂😅

redastherose · 25/12/2020 20:46

Yep I'd do the same as your dd. Save the best til last!

Beenaboutabit · 25/12/2020 20:47

Given I might have to share, I'd have to go favourite first.

JovialNickname · 25/12/2020 20:48

Lockdown madness is setting in OP!!

Nevanna · 25/12/2020 20:48

Always eat your favourites first. If you leave them till last you might not get them.

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 25/12/2020 20:48

I should have clarified no sharing required.

beela · 25/12/2020 20:49

Yabu, but she is also wrong, because fudges are delicious.

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 25/12/2020 20:50

Jovialnickname maybe but I honestly thought that everyone did what I did as a kid til she rocked up 😂

The ability to delay gratification is a sign of having good self-control and ability to control oneself. It is like the marshmallow test they do on young children.

Your child will go far!

Angrymum22 · 25/12/2020 20:51

Sorry OP but your choices actually mean the same.
I always save the best till last.

TeenageMutantNinjaCovid · 25/12/2020 20:52

@beela

Yabu, but she is also wrong, because fudges are delicious.
Not since palm oil- like eating a toad
TooMinty · 25/12/2020 20:53

Your DD is correct. What's her favourite? I agree fudge is the worst - although my younger sister likes it so I could sometimes broker a swap...

BusySittingDown · 25/12/2020 20:54

I always save the best till last.

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 25/12/2020 20:55

Maskingforit the personality part of it did interest me. I also thought it meant I avoided things I don't like (true) and she prefers to deal with them head on. Who knew a selection box could be a litmus test 😂

BadTimesAtTheElRoyale · 25/12/2020 20:57

Toominty chocolate buttons in this selection box.

goose1964 · 25/12/2020 20:59

The fudge is best.

Oysterbabe · 25/12/2020 21:01

I was babysitting a 4 year old once and I served him fish fingers, chips and peas for dinner. At first he said he was going to save his peas because they are his favourite but after some consideration decided to eat his peas first in case something happened that prevented him from eating his peas, like what if he died. I can't fault his logic. Peas first.

kowari · 25/12/2020 21:02

You eat your favourites then abandon the rest. Life is too short to eat chocolates you don't really like.

katy1213 · 25/12/2020 21:04

It's not about delayed gratification - it's knowing that some CF might steal the best ones before you get to them.

dudsville · 25/12/2020 21:07

Never eat chocolate you don't really like. Eat your favourites and bin the rest. You'll be happier and not develop beard habits of eating things you don't really want!

IMNOTSHOUTING · 25/12/2020 21:08

I'm with your DD, if you eat the best first the later chocolates taste rubbish afterwards.

Terracottasaur · 25/12/2020 21:15

I always save the best til last with everything - the anticipation makes it so much better!

MintyMabel · 25/12/2020 21:18

Save the best til last. Always.
